 Sick kitty

OK My friends cat is a fixed male a few years old i guess. He continues to lick himself and pee smalls drops all over which is very unusual. He also looks very bloated and keeps trying to go in the littler box and pee but can’t get out more than a few drops. To me it seems like there is something that is stopping him or making it very difficult to pee. When you touch his stomach or tummy he gets very upset or hisses which is very unusual. They are taking him to the vet today. and also the liquid coming out of him doesn’t have a strong urine smell like cat’s pee usually does. And it had a pink tint to it.

I was just wondering if anyone on here might have an idea of whats wrong. My best guess is a kidney infection or something along those lines. And I also asked myself if cats got kidney stones because that seems like something that would cause all these syndromes.

Thank you for all your help!!

Sounds like he is plugged. THe pink tint is blood in the urine. The swelling and painful abdomen is an extremely full bladder that is very painful. His urine is not the correct pH and is either too acidic or too basic causing small crystals. I am going to guess that the cat will now have to be on a prescription food to correct his pH imbalance which will be very costly. And since there is blood, from the crystals cutting the urinary tract, there could also be an infection which will cause him to be on antibiotics.

This is actually an emergency vet visit as if his bladder were to "pop" it would be leaking into his abdomen. I would insist to be seen ASAP or go to an emergency clinic!

Could be quite a few things. Male cats are prone to getting crystals in their urine, which can really irritate the insides and makes it hard to piss. Sometimes it’s as easy as changing the diet of the cat, but other times it requires surgery to treat. My bro had gone through the latter when his cat, Mew, was pissing up crystals and straining with a bad stomach ache.

While it usually doesn’t involve a lack of pissing, parasites commonly make the stomach bloat and can do a whole host of other problems. There is a parasite in the bladder that will make a dog or cat dribble piss spots around the house.

UTI is common and that could also be it. If it’s a sevier case, the infection will spread to the kidneys and other important organs. This involves lack of pissing, uncomfortible pissing, straining, etc. Of course, a tumor or sist can also cause the same problems.

So that’ll give you a few ideas of what might be wrong with the cat.
