 Morgan, our miracle baby!

Just wanted to share some pics of our most severe rescue kitten we have ever had, Morgan. She is 1 year old now and is either pure or mixed Maine Coon. We arent sure, but dont care-we are so proud of her we didnt think she’d make it & now she’s our big strong girl! Here’s some before & after pics-feel free to comment! Thanks for looking!

Before, at 4 weeks old:

Now, our little angel!:

It is so great that you rescued that poor little baby! The before pics look horrible, what were the circumstances? It’s also very nice to know she is doing so well now. I love stories with a happy ending! She’s VERY pretty!

 Morgan, our miracle baby!

Thank you-the circumstances were that my husband & i were helping out a cat shelter who initially we thought was truly in dire straits. (im gonna make a LLLLOOOOOOONNNNGGGGGGG story super short here!) Anyway, found out this person was a hoarder, kept the cats in horrible conditions, cages that were unclean, hardly ever food or water or scooped litter pans-Morgan, im not sure if she was born there, or what, but she had her & asked if i could help her, knowing of my medical knowledge with cats. We all thought she wouldnt make it. Of course we said yes. (We ALWAYS took as many of the sick ones as we possibly could-which is why we have an over abundance of cats currently!) Anyway, Morgan had EVERYTHING wrong with her as a kitten her age could possibly have & still be alive! She was so malnourished, she eventually lost 85% of her fur-it just fell out-we had our vet do 2 different hair follicle tests & skin scrapings and they could find NO explination for it-it was from malnutrition! (You can see on her butt in the 1st pic when her hair STARTED falling out) Ear mites, SEVERE dehydration, anemia, fleas horribly, refused to eat/drink-ZERO appetite. So for a straight month, my husband & i persevered with her, losing faith along the way, i must admit, but never gave up. We had to bottle feed her with KMR as well as syringe feed her w/a high calorie supplement, to both put weight on her & return her appetite. Gave her sub cu fluids 4 times a day, an iron supplement for anemia, ear mite meds 2x a day, constantly putting towels in the dryer to wrap her in to keep her warm & whatever else we needed to do for her-acidophilis supplement-whew! And she was just ONE OF our sick ones at the time-but a month later of this DAILY, she started to eat, and show improvement. Growing up, she’d have chronic respiratory infections-oh she had conjuctivitis too-so it was also an eye ointment 4 times daily too! She still has one "weepy" eye-but is otherwise healthy & doing great now! THAT’S why i felt compelled to post her! EVERY time i look at her of EVERY day i think of how close we were to losing her & how she just amazes us! She truly is a miracle, and as far as the &#%$*!*@%$^ that did this to her-well i think its obvious that i cant post my true feelings about that here or else id get kicked off the forum or worse! Sorry to ramble, but it boils my blood what happened to her & she is just our PRECIOUS baby! Thank you guys!
