Personally, I don’t think it’s a good idea to mix two year olds with kittens. It’s tough to explain to a child at that age the kitten can’t be handled like a stuffed animal. They tend to grab them by the neck, squeeze them around the middle too tight and generally freak them out. The kitten holds on for dear life, with their claws of course, which the child won’t like when see the blood. Maybe you could take your siblings to the shelter and see if there’s an older cat who is more tolerant and knows to hide when the play gets too rough if you really want to foster. Otherwise wait a couple years.
Just my opinion, but two is the worst age to introduce to a kitten from my experience.

You’re very welcome. And thank you for not taking offense at my suggestion. Two year olds SHOULD be exposed to pets, but as you said, with supervision. With three younger siblings, you know that can be an impossible task!

I think an older cat would be a MUCH better choice in your situation. Besides the fact that everyone who goes to a shelter wants a cute and cuddly kitten, while the full grown cats who are already trained, mellow and just want a little attention and love, go unnoticed.

I wish you good luck in your quest. It will be hard to say good bye to the foster kitty, but the joy you give to the person who gives it a forever home is immeasurable. That makes it all worth it.

Show your mom how well you and your brother and sisters can care for a kitty, and who knows, maybe she would be willing to let you get your own "forever" kitty when the time is right!
