Yes, it needs to get done. Keep him indoors until you raise enough money. Babysit, mow lawns, ask your parents if you could work it off doing jobs around the house, etc. I’m sure you can make the money. Good luck! |

What vet are you going to? Just keep him indoors if he hasn’t had the surgery yet. Good luck! |

Perhaps you should get another opinion....I’m not sure what else to tell you. If he is eating, drinking, has solid stools, and otherwise acts fine I wouldn’t worry a ton. Cats often cough after neuters because they had a gas mask on during the surgery as well. Chest X rays still seem unnecessary to me... Is there anything in your house that could be causing it? Air fresheners, perfume, spray cleaners, etc.? Cats are very sensitive to these things. Best of luck, I hope all goes well with him. Keep us updated! |

We have had TWO cryptorchids in the last week. Such a pain! And so expensive for the rescue to keep having to pay for. |

hes doing much better today. hes stopped coughing and isnt breathing as bad. he sure acts better too hes playing around like a kitten. i took some pics of him today.
playing with this little string thingy i found. it came with a tarp we got. its like some kind of thick red string with a ball on the end. i gave it to him to see what he would do with it
playing with is box i made him. i found this idea in a cat book. u cut holes in the sides of a shoe box and put a tennis ball in it. any cat will spend hours trying to get the ball out.
hes a vampire lol |

Sleep use to help my migraines but not so much now. They cause to much pain for me to be able to sleep and get worse when I lay down. Good thing I don’t need much sleep anyway lol... that and I have had them so long and often I have pretty much learn to "cope" with them and go on about my life. If I did not I would never get anything done!! The doctor keeps wanting to put me on meds but I have a 4 year old to care for and can’t really call the husband home form work when I have to take the meds as they force you to sleep... BOO HISS to headaches lol |

I usually experience visual phenomenons (flashes of lights, floating specks etc...) before the pain starts. I’ve found 2 Excedrin Migraine or Extra Strength (they’re actually the exact same thing) taken when the visuals start, keeps the headache away. There are also some great new drugs that dissolve on your tongue (in case, like me, when it gets full blown, even a pill taken with no water won’t stay down) that work WONDERS without any drowsiness or awful side effects. You shouldn’t suffer, talk to your doc. And good luck! |

Oh and back on topic for random info. That red string with the ball on it.. is a tie strap for your trap. Goes through the holes and secures it to poles etc. |

The "dissolve on the tongue" drugs are amazing when the migraine is full blown. Wish I could remember the name....starts with an X or Z. (Isn’t that a big help?.....sorry :) ) But I’ve finally figured out that if you learn how to ward off the migraine before it starts you can have a normal life. (Even with an active 4 year old!) In my case, I experience the "visuals". If I catch them in time I’m good to go. Just pay attention to what happens before it becomes unbearable and take action then. It took me many years of thinking "I just had to deal with it" before I learned to be more pro-active. You really don’t have put up with the pain (as my mother did before new meds.). If your doc. can’t/won’t help then find a new doc who understands. It took me 20 years to learn to deal with the problem. Don’t let it take you so long. Good luck! and God Bless. |

You can go to the drug store and pick up some L-Lysine powder or capsules. Open the capsules if you get them and mix the powder into a small bit of wet food each day. Either two-four capsules or a tablespoon of the powder. Do you have other cats? If so, do the same for all of them, or mix the Lysine in with all their water to prevent them from getting it. It is just a human food supplement that breaks down viral reproduction and should help with the cold. Other than that, just give it time. Good luck! |

Yes, kitty colds can last a LONG time!! I’ve had fosters and seen cats with URIs for up to 6 or 8 weeks! And antibiotics don’t treat the actual viral infection, they can only treat bacterial infections that are the result of the viral infection. Bacterial infections cause the goopy eyes/eye infections, green or yellow snot, etc. etc. but the viral infection can’t really be treated itself. Definitely try the Lysine. That will break down any viral reproduction and should help if it’s a viral infection he is fighting off. Make sure the cabin isn’t dusty, that could be making him sneeze as well. Either way, it can’t hurt and should boost his immune system. What are you feeding him? |

I would recommend switching the food. You can find fairly inexpensive foods that will be much better for him. Remember, what goes into him is what comes out of him. Purina isn’t the healthiest food you could be feeding. I would recommend Science Diet and Nutro Natural Choice as other options instead. If you are willing to spend the extra money, Innova, Royal Canin, or Evo would be my highest recommendations. You’re doing a GREAT job with him. Try not to get discouraged, he’ll pull through. Good luck! |
