FIV + rescues
Their owner died and some nutcase took over in "caring" for her pets. He is doing a terrible job and these ten FIV + cats were living in about 6" of feces in a small wooden cage outside with no food/water. Someone (the situation is unclear, but I think she knew the previous owner?) posted an ad on craigslist saying she could rescue them if she had a place for them to go. Lucky me :P So I offered to take them and find them new homes. All but one seem to be in great health, if not a bit thin. The last one has a slight kitty cold, but I’m hoping some Lysine will fix him up (it’s best not to do too many antibiotics/medications with FIV + cats because they don’t have good immune systems). Sooooo if anyone around here is looking for a kitty? Lol. They are in kennels for the first few days and once they’re settled I’ll probably let them loose in my room (I’ll have to figure out how to secure the reptile lighting so the cats can’t tip them over...). I’m hoping that one of the local FIV + cat sanctuaries will be able to take at least some of them... Anyway they are GORGEOUS cats. Theres a long haired orange tabby with bright blue eyes!! Pictures coming soon... They are all lounging, sleeping, purring, and grooming each other. They all needed baths and you know how kitties have to re-groom themselves after you do it for them : ) So far there is one pair that I think will have to go together. They seem to be brother/sister and haven’t left each others’ sides since coming. Hoping to find good homes soon! |
