 Found cat...please help!!

So I was working last night and i walked outside to find an orange cat just sitting by the door of our store. I felt so bad for her, so I bought food and put her in my car until i was done with work. She is very friendly and likes to be held, but she is very skinny and has a runny nose, with green discharge. She is eating and drinking, but I am just wondering if anybody can help me. I don’t have the money to take her to the vet, so if you have any suggestions that would be wonderful. I don’t know if it is just a cold but i really feel bad that she can barely breath.

Thanks,

Alecia

sounds like a sick kitty to me. since you can’t afford to treat her maybe take her to the humane society or a local no-kill shelter. or you can check and see if there is a local rescue group that could help you out.

the green discharge makes me think of Distemper (sp?) and that can be fatal if not treated.

Green discharge is most likely a simple upper respiratory disease. Usually cats with Distemper do not eat and drink (or at least a serious case of Distemper).

She MUST see a vet asap! Please do a google search for low cost clinics in your area. There are usually $25 exams or similar in most areas.

Put an ad on craigslist asking for a home for her with someone who can get the vet care she needs. Photos and making her sound as needy and hopeless as possible always help : )

Keep her AWAY FROM ANY OTHER ANIMALS!! This is very important as she is probably contagious.

Also, send an email to all the vets in your area asking for a donated exam to a stray kitty. You may get a response.

Petfinder.com is a good resource to find no kill rescues.

Good luck!
