Bear is sick... About a week ago, my kitten came down with a lot of sneezing. For a while, he couldn’t breathe through his nose. Now he can, but he’s rasping. He sleeps most of the day and is very warm...this is strange for him, as he has always been the one to run around and cause mayhem. I’m worried it could be distemper? He’s not old enough to get his shots yet, as far as I was told, and I took him in as a stray. Any idea as to what it could be, and any way to help? He refuses to take any antibiotics offered, and I don’t want to force them because he can’t breathe well as it is.

Bear is sick... Cats, kittens in particular, are subject to the common cold. It starts out with sneezing frequently and a little discharge from the eyes. This can advance to things like kitty bronchitis, which is what you’re describing. You will need to see the vet to get the proper medication to treat it. Keep the kitten well away from other mammalian pets you may have.
If you cannot administer the antibiotics directly, then put it in the kitten’s food. If these are solid pills, break it into pieces. If pills, you can also put it in a dab of syrup or with a small piece of cheese attached and the kitten may take it more readily.

Bear is sick... He’s back to his old self...running around and attacking things. No more rasping or sneezing today, just carrying his ball around and jumping on the other cats, so I think he’s overcome whatever it is he had..thank you for the help, though!
