 Devlin may have FIP.

For the last week, Devlin has had severe diarrhea, and for the last two days, his abdomen has been grotesquely swollen.

My mom took him to our veterinarian today. The good news is that his diarrhea is the result of coccidia, which can be treated rather easily. The bad news is that his swollen belly may be the result of Feline Infectious Peritonitis.

Our vet drew some blood from Devlin. According to her, looking at the proteins in Devlin’s blood will help decide whether or not he has FIP.

My mom and I have only had Devlin for around two months. He spent the first few weeks of his life living under my aunt’s shed. When we took him in, he had flees, ticks, and roundworms. He was absolutely terrified of us the first few weeks we had him. We got his shots, got rid of his parasites, fixed him, and socialized him. Now, after all that, he may have FIP.

Our vet said that there’s no treatment for FIP. She also stated that it’s usually fatal. She’s supposed to be calling us later to give us the results of Devlin’s blood test.

I’m really hoping he doesn’t have it...

 Devlin may have FIP.

the bloating could have been from the coccidia as well

i have known several people with cats that have fiv that live long and fulifilling lives even without special medication

the vet should have checked him when you took him in in the first place

and he should have gotten vaccinated then too

so if it comes back negative i would definatly get him vaccinated

good luck i hope it isnt fiv
