My Foster Kitty
Bullet is now a (very very happy!!) 3-legged kitty. The problem is, her kidneys failed due to extreme urinary tract infections. The vet thought she was peeing too much because the bullet had damaged the part of her spine that allows her bladder to communicate with her brain, but it turns out it was an infection that damaged her kidneys. Now, Bullet eats special urinary food and doesn’t have control of her bladder a lot of the time. She has lived in a cage for three years, and I recently took her home to foster her. The best way to deal with her issues is to have a big dog kennel with a thick towel covering the bottom and a litter box in the back. During the day, she can wear a special kitty diaper with a modified onesie to hold it in place, and at night she can stay in the kennel so she can groom herself and poop in the litter box. We would have put this poor girl to sleep years ago, except that she is just so happy! She is the happiest, friendliest, most trusting cat I have ever met, so I am fighting for her to find a very special place for her to stay. I’m thinking a "permanent foster" type of situation is the most likely, so we can provide her special food and medical care as it comes up. Bullet is still very young, definitely not over 5 years. She has a lot of time left, and I would so love for her to spend it in comfort with a family.
So, if you know anyone in the Seattle/WA state area, who might be interested in caring for this special kitty, let me know! |
