yes bigger is better but only for an adult chameleon , if you are geting a baby anywheres from a 1 month to 3 months old then a 10 gallon will be fine for a couple months ,dont buy it if its really young my general rule is no less then 2.5 to 3 months old is when they are old enough to be moved and establish a home more quickly then say a 1.5 month old , but the size of the cage is depending on the size of your cham so befor you get it get the ppl to tell you how old it is? when was it born , whos its parents , how well do they get taken care of ??, wats it been feedin on since it was born?? how many times daily do you mist ?? all of these things play a role in your cham being healthy so dont be afraid to ask the questions because other then that your cham wont do so well just keep researching on the net and asking questions as you go cause if you dont research alot of ppl will tell you your being lazy and wont be of much help because you dont wana try so aslong as you do research you will be in the good books and your cham will live a long and healthy life so geta researching
