I use 12" to 14" deep plastic plant pots with sterilized play sand as laying nests for my females (inside their enclosures). The sand should be damp enough to hold a tunnel without collapsing on the female as she digs, but not soaking wet. My females generally dig deep .. all the way to the bottom, and generally they seek the corners of the pots to lay in.

After they lay, I remove the eggs and incubate them in shallow plastic (Rubbermaid style) tubs/bins in moistened vermiculite. I don’t bury the eggs in the vermiculite, just place them gently on top of the medium.
