 R.I.P momma

Hey all here at repticzone , its been awhile since i last posted anything, but i have bad news my female veild of 3.5 yrs finally kicked the bucket on me and i know she should have been done along time ago, they say around there 6th clutch they go down hill , but she had a few URIs that went away with in days of giving medicine and then she was strong until her 9th clutch of eggs and she was on her 10th clutch when i think she became egg bound and she didnt have any strength what so ever she was barly moving so i made the decision to freeze her , i made a lil bed out of paper towel and a box and barried her yesturday , if there was any way i could take her to the vet and get her back on track i would have but i knew it was just her time to go , with her appetite almost gone and only drinking , and she was around the time for her to lay her 10th clutch and i think she became egg bound , i had her lay box in her enclosure at all times and she didint use it this last time , so that tells me she was egg bound ,but i knew the day was coming soon so i was totally down , she was my momma she gave me 80 beautiful baby veilds and one i currently still have , she was a calm one to didnt care if you grabed her or not , and she was a European veiled to so she tossed me some good looking babies ,but sorry for rambling on about her and i know a few of you will disagree with me on freezing but its the only way i could humanly let her go to sleep, R.I.P Momma

Hey Mjcullen and Jen thanks for the replies , but im sorry to hear that Diego passed away on you , you go through so much with them like feeding and water everyday and watching them do there thing like take strolls through there enclosure , even hand feeding her she was the only one i have right now that will hand feed all the others are to scared so i dont bother them much trying to hand feed them, and you really get attatched to them but hey with life comes death and she had 80 babies so she did her role in life to populate her species so it can further live into this world, but now i have more time for my nosy be panther project already on the go, i got an unrelated male and female both 6 months old , soon to be another female nosy be and a baby male Ambilobe , so im going to have my hands full with panthers here in the next lil while and a few surprises to but ill post pics of the nosy bes there , there turning out CRAZY!

 Sorry to hear

about your old girl, Boothy. And Jen ... the same goes for Diego. They do become more than just pretty faces :)

My own sweet old Lazy Lightning passed on also, a little over a month ago. L.L. did pretty good for being a WC that had to have a partial tail amputation when I took her in. But as Alan has demonstrated, where life ends, new life also begins (good grief Alan ... now that’s a bunch of mouths to feed! LOL) I also have Panther eggs that should be pipping any day now, dragon eggs incubating and even a new litter of 6-day old pups to tend to. That, along with adult herps & dogs is quite enough for me! :)
