 2 males mating??

hi,

I got 2 males chamaleons in the same cage. They are just 5 months old. This morning, i found that one has climbed on the back of the other and he was bobbing his head up and down. The other chamaleon has turned completely black and was remaining still. After some time, i saw that the chamaleon was mating with the black one. Has this happen to anyone’s chamaleon??

SEPERATE THEM IMMEDIATLY OR THEY WILL KILL EACH OTHER. chameleons hate to be with other chameleons, nevermind 2 males that are very territorial. one is black because it is very stressed out and the bobbing is territorial.THEY WILL KILL EACH OTHER IF YOU DON’T MOVE THEM SOON SO DO IT NOW!

What you probably saw was one male simply dominating the other. What you saw was typical agressive/defensive behavior by two reptiles who should never be sharing the same space.
Obviously you know nothing about chameleon keeping or you would have separated them before now, and wouldn’t need to ask.

The reason the submissive male turned black and froze was due to stress and fear. He is being intimidated by the other more dominant male. Untimately, it could lead to starvation, death by physical aggression & resultant wounds, a serious compromise of the submissive cham’s immune system (due to stress) leaving him vulnerable to any number of ailments, all of which could easily be fatal.
Chameleons are very territorial and will certainly kill one another. They should never be kept togther, regardless of gender, after around 3-4 months old.

Please separate them immediately and do some reasarch before they both end up dead.
