 Senegal chameleon

I bought my son a chameleon and i want the chameleon to be happy and healthy. So I need some pointers to do that. He always hangs from the top of his cage. And when I turn his warming light on he turns black. Is that normal? What kinds of things do I need to give him to climb on. He has a branch and thats it. Any feedback is truly welcome!! Thanks

First off, let me point out that chameleons are not easy, and you have more than likely started out with a WC as most Senegals are wild caughts making this even more difficult. Can you tell us what you are housing him in and with what UVB lighting, feeders, supplements, watering methods, etc.... Pet stores often give very bad advice. If you link to my websire that can be found by clicking my profile button, it links to a good site on keeping Veiled chameleons. The husbandry is very similar. Also keep in mind that these animals do not like to be handled. Over stressing them will cause illness and possible death. All this said, with the right care, it can be done.
