Depends on your definition of affordable. If you are looking for something inexpensive to buy and maintain, then chameleons probably are not your first choice.

Yes, you can purchase inexpensive chams, but they will likely be either WC or hatchlings. Both of which have high mortality rates and not recommended for a novice keeper. Even if you buy a cheap cham, you will spend more on a proper enclosure, lights, cage foliage, supplements, feeders, and gutload for feeders.
