 "calci-grubs" from pollywog

Really super quick delivery and Bud loves them!!!! I’m hoping i can use thes as a staple diet instead of crickets

Ijust moved the pot that they come in and she is now looking at me, She has had 3 crickets today and about 8 calci-bugs

OMG she is a pig she is certainly trying to make up for them days for not eating.

Please if anyone has their cams on bark or coconut husk etc take it out immediatly and change it for news paper or the paper tableclothes (dye free) as my poor baby got blocked up and stopped eating for days. Lucky she managed to pass it but i really thought i was gonna loose her

I’m really glad to hear Bud is eating again and hasn’t suffered any long-term affects from her impaction.
Most herps do love Phoenix worms and their high calcium and low fat content are really good for reptiles. However, they aren’t quite as high in protein as other feeders.

As for making them a staple, I personally don’t think any one insect should be a "staple". I use crickets as my staple (for chams and beardies), but I supplement with silkies, wax, supers, and even mantids. Remember in the wild, chams (like any other wild animal) devour a wide variety of food items. You can’t gutload a Phoenix worm like you should crickets, either ... so your cham is getting a larvae, and nothing else in the way of other nutrients and/or protein that a gutload would offer.

Also Phoenix worms do not get large enough to really satisfy a fully grown Veiled, in my opinion. If I had to rely on them alone to feed my chams, I’d be spending a fortune!

At any rate, I’m glad that you’re happy with the Phoenix and I’m certain Bud is too! :)

Good luck to you both!
