 Translucent Veileds

Well, I got my new male to breed with my female!
They are both low ends, so I should have several high end babies.

Is that male a transluscent?

Yes, both of them are low end translucents.
The male is actually a red/orange phase, so you dont see very many of them.
His fire up and sleeping colors are very orange.
He is still on the young side, but over the next 4-6 months I expect him to put on some impressive colors.
IF you would like updates on the clutch or the male you can always visit my website.
It should be listed in my profile

Haha!
People make me laugh.
It is infact a genetic "defect", but isn’t albionism or a pied ball python.
It seems that you dont know much about the gene, so I’ll give you the run down.
They originally came in as a trio of adult wild caughts, so no one is playing God or doing this to the animals.
It’s mother nature at her best.
Translucent Veileds will show two different colors. White and black.
The white or lack of pigment is called leucism.
The body surface, or the portion of the body surface which is leucistic, lacks the cells that produce pigmentation.
Leucistic animals lack the 3 types of mature pigment cells called malanophores, xanthrophores, and and iridophores.
Their have been zero negative effects of the gene found to date.
Not even the absorbtion of UV light, which infact is the reason why we have pigment in our skin.
These chameleons were not a result of imbreeding like most people think.
They came in as 3 wild caughts, and were bred out with wild caughts by a European breeder.
Once they reached the State side the people that have purchased them have infact out-crossed the co-dominant gene to WC’s.
They arrived state side in 2006 and were sold for prices ranging from 1,000-1,500 dollars each.
I did hear of some people selling extreme high ends in upwards of 4,000 dollars.
The price reflects supply and demand. Would you get mad at me if I was selling Parsons for 3,000 dollars?
I think Panthers are overpriced at 300 dollars each when the incubation and growing rates are nearly the same.
I can promise you that I will not be taking advantage of the market with my animals.
Your strong words were very rude about me being a sad excuse for the hobby.
What kind of studies have you performed on the morph?
It’s very rude to make assumptions since you dont like them, so please keep you opinions to yourself.
If you consider it to be an ugly chameleon or that the chameleon is retarted, then please dont purchase one from me.

I think the courses in genetics during my education to be a biologist helped me more than those words.

ALL genetics is natural, no matter what we talk about in this field, so your talk about playing god is just nonsense. You try to use morphs of some boids as an excuse, but who said they are any better?
What YOU dont seem to get is that all these genetic variations exists in nature, its just not selected for as they are all reducing the fitness of the animal. Thats when greedy money-hungry "breeders" come in and force these traits into homozygosity with inbreeding as their tool, loosing huge amounts of genetic variation in the CB population. Let me guess, your animals are totally unrelated, right?

There are natural phenotypic variations ("morphs") in some snakes, that is fine. But come back and tell me its all fine and dandy when albino boas are born with burst eyeballs or without eyes at all.

You dont know your genetics and you are ruining this hobby. Now go and be proud of yourself somewhere, under a rock seems fitting.

Here is you genetic terms:
In homozygous carriers both alleles at the gene locus coding for this trait are translucent alleles. This animal will be a "high end" and be fully translucent. Fully translucent males will have a wide range of colors including white heads, see through body parts like arms, feet and eyes, a blue body and orange stripes. In a heterozygous carrier one allele at the gene locus coding for this trait is the translucent gene while the other is a normal gene. This animal will be a "low end" and not fully translucent.

The bloodlines have been bred out with WC’s as stated above.

Wow!
The hospitality on the forum is amazing.
I’m pretty sure the first rule before you post says "No Rude Behavior, Cursing, Flaming, Naming Calling, or Racial/Religous/Political Comments."
Personal vendettas should be kept that, if you have soemthing against them please dont ruin a whole community because you are seveal years behind in your understanding on a gene.
Please contact me by e-mail if you wish to proceed, and I can fill you in on the several several out-breeding prgrams.
Trust me, I uderstand how you feel.
Please, before you jump the gun make sure you know what is going on here in the States.
