Sweet, its a long-horn beetle of some kind, Cerambycidae.

The larvae usually live in dead wood, so maybe you brought some kind of wood inside lately? Maybe oak?

In buds cage is oak branches as the woods about 5miles away had the people in cutting some of the branches off. I did soak and scrub them in disinfectant that the vets gave me for my iguanas cage then soaked and scrubed them in freash water. Is this a good thing i managed to get a pic, i was gonna let bud eat it but should i let it go?

There is really no need to go trough all the trouble some people do with branches and stuff from nature. There is basically nothing that can harm your animal, natur simply is not sterile. Its naive to think that our chameleons dont run into wors bugs than this in nature - they eat scorpions for christ sake!
If the stuff you find outdoors is muddy and filthy, the kick the dirt of by all means, but dont try to sterilize it - why?

You could let it go, most beetles taste bitter anyway...
Or keep it and start a collection, im not that interested in beetles myself, but that specis is kind of pretty. There is a cool long horne beetle that actuallt gives of sound! It sounds lige a goat almost...

I love that I nailed the oak-thing, they also go into other trees.
Dont worry about this, just enjoy nature as it steps into your house.

thankyou very much!

I dont have a prob wiv dirt, insects or spiders etc. i’m not you typical women who worries about breaking a nail lol my parents have a small holding

i’ve let it go outside, I’ve never seen anything like this b4 thats y i was a bit worried as i have a 3yr old daughter and she spotted it and paniced that it was in buds cage lol

But even my daughter grabs a handfull of mealworms or pheonix worms/magotts and happily holds out her hand for bud to eat out off. I even have a pic of my daughter holding a giant millerpeed lol

I had a similar beetle in my terrarium as well. I was actually in costa rica and had a herper friend of mine take care of my animals at the time. When I got back he mentioned that he found a bunch of "pretty" beetles in my apartment. He had brought one of them to the university where we both worked at the time and showed it to a entomologist friend of ours who went bonkers. It was rare! Being a biologist I found it funny/interesting. I had just put some new (dead) branches in with my sanzinia snakes before I left...

I find these types of thing more interesting on a different level; its not the species of bug itself that is fun, its the fact that it is a common part of the nature surrounding us but we are oblivious to. Im sure there are amazing stuff outside my window if I just dig into it....

i like and respect all animals i’ve been brought up that way and thats how i am bringing my daughter up. I often incubate eggs and my daughter holds them from day one.

My daughter keeps catching the escapee crickets and she just pops em in buds cage, one prob with that is she doesnt do it back up properly and i often find bud basking on the plant infront of the french doors lol.

thanks for identifying it for me

Bet it was nice having rare beatles in ur hse not being able to move them!!

Bud is such a pig she is 5-6months old and she has eaten 20 small crickets and about 15 mealworms and my daughter put 3months in there which have been eaten. I’m going away for a week on monday and my mum will be looking after her at her hse so she will prob go off her food for a few days so i’m letting her get away with being a pig until i get back!!
