 A health question...

Alright, so I have a veiled chameleon which I adopted from someone who no-longer wanted her. :(

I’ve had chameleons in the past, specifically veilds.

Recently I heard Hortense (The chameleon, :P) weezing. I suspected it to be a URI because I had no idea how she was previously treated. When she ’weezed’ her eyes would sorta bulge out, is this common?

Anyways, I immediately made an appointment for her at a vet which specializes in herps. He asked me temps and humidity and yada, yada. He decided it was probably a URI and gave me some antibiotic to give her orally. I began treatment a few days ago and the weezing has gone down... The only problem is, her eyes seem to be bulging out more often (even when she’s not weezing).

I also had a stool sample done and everything was good. Before the treatment is over, I wanted to know if you guys had any idea of what could be wrong with her eyes?

Thanks!

Chad

 A health question...

What antibiotic are you administering?

What kind of UVB light do you use?

What supplements (dust) do you use and what is your schedule?

What vegies/fruits do you regularly gutload with?

Finally, how old is Hortense?

 A health question...

iv had problems with my female geting URIs and this was llast yr around summer time she got one so i took her to the vet and they administerd a shot of Ceftazidime and then the vet gave me 3 extra needles to give to her every 3 days until done and by the second needle she was already back to recovery no puffy eyes and no weezing and cracking but this wasnt administerd Orally , my vet says orally administerd antiboitics doesnt always work because most of it is digested or absorbed through the stomac lining and later digested , so when i gave her the needles i had to give it to her in her upper forarm of her front arms and then when you give it to her the next time its just in the opposite arm you gave it to her last time so ask your vet if they would be able to administer you Ceftazidime to help you out and as lunaC stated below , whats her temps , humidity level, how many times in a day do you mist her , wats her amount of food intake each day all these things play a role on your chameleons health and i hope hes ok for you

 A health question...

1) The antibiotic is Baytril.

2) Reptiglo 5.0 UVB. This is the light I received with her... Should the UVB be upped?

3) I use Sticky Tongue Farms Mineral about every two feedings.

4) I havn’t been able to get her to eat fruits, veggies. I had some pothos in there for her, but she didn’t take.

5) I’m not even sure about age because I ’adopted’ her, but i’m guessing about 2 years.

Temperature is about 92F at the hottest spot. Humidity is about 60-70. I usually mist three times a day and I have a dripper.

Thanks for the responses, guys. I’m pretty sure i’m gonna be taking her back to the vet.
