 CHAOS DON’T LOOK GOOD!

Hi all,
ok, chaos had an eye ailment, weeping and sticking shut and really swollen, and the vet gave us ciproflaxin opthalmic solution. 1 drop every 12 hrs. for the first 2 days it was progressively getting better and the swelling went down, all the way down! today his eye was a little sunken in but he is looking out of it. we found him hanging upside down, literally dangling, he is very weak and won’t eat we called the vet and we’re waiting for reply now. has anyone ever used this solution or know the side effects? any and all replies welcome! thanks guys we missed everyone! keith and lisa.

Is he dehydrated? Possible MBD case? Has infection spread? What are you using for watering, lighting, and supplementing?

Ciprofloxacin ophthalmic solution is pretty much a standard antibiotic for treating bacterial infections of the eye. It’s useless against viruses or fungi. Did the vet take a culture sample and determine it was bacterial in nature before prescribing the Ciprofloxacin? Are you currently using it, or have you discontinued use?

His eye ailment may be secondary to another more serious ailment, though it would seem if that were the case both eyes should be affected. It could also be totally unrelated. At any rate, as Juli already posted, weakness, dry loose skin, loss of appetite are all symptoms of dehydration and/or MBD.

I wish I could be more help ... hate to hear Chaos isn’t doing well :(
