Thius usually happens for a few reasons. One-the temps are too hot at the top. Do you know what your temps are and how do you measure them? What are you using for heating and lighting? Another is that feeders are hiding down there. Are you sure he is male? Any pictures? Often new keepers think they have a male and they have a female that ends up gravid and needs to lay eggs.

What kind of UVB? Are you supplementing? He really shouldn’t be falling.

Sounds suspiciously like MBD. Has he had good UVB exposure during entire entire time you’ve had him?
Are his legs bowed or straight?
Does he have what looks like knots at his "ankles" or "elbows"?
Is his casque nice and full or sunken? How about his appetite?

How about his humidity and watering schedule?
How do you administer his drinking water?
How do you maintain humidity in his enclosure?
What type of enclosure is he in?

Sorry for all the questions, but the more info you provide, the better someone may be able to assist you.

he didnt make it and died last nite we only had him a few months he did have bowed front legs. we never saw him eat but his food did go so he must of eat at some point. the humidity was right from the care sheets on this site. i misted him three to four times a day for over 5 mins sometimes he would open his mouth for me to just spray striaght in there for him. he had live plants in this screen cage enclosure which i watered ever day and had a little jam jar top of water to keep humidity up i did dust and gut load his feeds to. he had bowed legs when we bought him. thank you for all ur help.

DId you ever have UVB lighting on him? Were you supplementing with calcium? Please research before you get another one-that way you will know what to look for when buying and get a healthy one. Sorry about your loss.

The best lizard to keep is the one that you are interested in. You should never get an animal because other people have a certain experience of them, it should be YOUR interest that decides.

Sorry to hear about your cham.

Just for future reference, chams only need UVB exposure during normal daylight hours. And no light or extra heat at night, so 12 hours of UVB per day is fine as long as the bulb you are using is not terribly old.

I agree with Jonas, re: the best lizard, but would like to add, the best lizard is one that suits your wallet, your lifestyle and your time. Research those species you are interested in and see which one suits you best. Chams definitely don’t fill the bill for "best to handle".
