 HELP!! watering my chameleon?

Hi, i have a 4 to 5 month old chameleon.. and this may sound silly, but only now im confused. Today i went to local reptile centre just for a browse and thought id get some info. He told me i should not mist my viv everyday as i have been doing, but to spray rarely. Ie; every 6 to 8 weeks. He said that they come from yemen, saudi arabia .. and its rare that they have water there. He said that she will be dead within 2 yrs if i carry on, and her legs will become inflated of water and thats where complications begin, PLEASE help me as i do not want to bring harm to her.

ALSSOOOO..

Yemen and veiled?Whats the exact difference??
Thanks
Jade

PLEASE do not listen to that idiot! I hope he never owns a cham! You should mist everyday, twice a day. They will drink what they want. What garbage about their legs. Weirdest stuff I have ever heard! Yemen, Saudi Arabia is where Veileds come from. Some people call them Yemens.

Juli is an experience keeper and absolutely correct.

Chams need high humidity and a high volume of moving, dripping drinking water still. In fact, don’t think "mist", think "rain". You should be spraying your enclosure down more than once a day, in fact, unless you have a dripper going or an auto mister.

She will be dead way way sooner than two years (more like in a few months) if you only provide water/humidity every 6-8 weeks.

If you are getting your chameleon-keeping information from that particular reptile center, then I strongly urge you to continue your own research. They are totally, unmistakeably WRONG ... and are likely to be wrong about other advice they give you. Chams are definitely different from other more common reptiles and their basic daily needs are different.

Kudos to you for double-checking the very poor advice you recieved.
