My female chameleon doesn’t lay eggs

Hi, I have a female chameleon and this is the first time that she would lay her eggs. She is experiencing all of the symptoms that made me sure it is time to get her a sand box. So this morning I put her in a bucket full of moist play sand and deep enough for her to dig. I also put the screen from her cage on top of the bucket and hung the lights. For some reason she does not want to go in the sand, she would stay on the edge of the bucket and when i put the screen she just stays on it upside down.

Is there something I need to do to get her on the sand and start digging? And I know that she definitely has eggs in her. Is it because the sand is moist and she doesn’t like it? Or is she sick?

I also noticed purple spots appear on her yesterday, but today they were gone. She is usually green, so purple is something that I have never seen on her.

Her sand bucket is placed somewhere where nothing can disturb her. It has been 2 hours since I put her in and she is still hanging on the screen and doesn’t want to get on the sand.

Please give me some advise on what I can do, I am really worried. Thank you!

put sand/lay box right in here cage and leave her alone for two days. If you moved her cage move it back. remember chams can stress themselves to death and are one of the reptiles that does that the most.

I thought of doing that, but the cage I have is not big enough for the sand box, though I am currently looking for a larger cage.

:-/ its going to be hard getting to lay eggs out of her cage. maybe leave her cage door open with the lay box next to door. what size tank/cage do you have?
