Digging, and trying to get out!! and food All my lizards do when they are active is dig!! they dig down to the bottom of the tank!! i dont have much substrate, so thats not far!! they have been doing this all day everyday since i got them!! is this normal behavior!! and they all seem like they want to get out!! they jump into the glass and are always at the edges of the tank!! it makes me feel like im imprisoning them rather then giving them a nice home. i believe they are captive bread, but im not sure if that matters!! am i woring to much?? they will even ocasionally jump to the top of the tank and hang from the screen, doing the monkey climb!! that is fun to watch!! just concerned for their health!! have heard that some of these lizard rub their noses raw from rubbing to much against the glass!! anyone have an explaination??
oh and feeding amount and frequency!! is too much better then too little!! ive been putting in about 20 crickets, and they have been eating through those in about three days!! is that healthy for the lizards!! i have two lizards!!

Digging, and trying to get out!! and food If the hot area is in the middle, move it to one end. If it’s already at the end, you’ve just got hyper lizards. Digging won’t hurt them, but I’d cover the sides a little bit so they can better undersatand where the barrier is, because I think that’s confusing them. Surround the edge of the tank with plastic plants, or stick some decals on the glass, or even just put a bunch of stuff around next to the tank sort of creating a visual barrier. And if they like to climb, give them lots of stuff to climb. You might want to try giving them some tubes to explore too, since thye seem interested in tunneling.

Digging, and trying to get out!! and food A 40 gallon tank is too small for a pair in my opinion, there’s a reason they’re scratching at the glass and it’s because they need somewhere to go. I had the same issue with my single collared and as soon as I put here in a larger tank she stopped that behavior immediately.
In a tank that size you also may not be getting the proper temperature gradients, the tank may be too hot overall making them hyper if they don’t have somewhere to go cool down.
