Rock warning
Just thought I would send out a little alert based on an experience I had a week ago with Ajax. I had just changed his playsand and put everything back in place. I came home from grocery shopping and Ajax was missing! I moved everything out of the tank searching for him and finally pulled out a piece of driftwood that I had bought which was attached to a slate bottom and there he was curled up and breathing hard. Well he has recovered just fine and we seem to have bonded even more from the near death experience. I learned the hard way that a rock (or slate) needs to be completely against the bottom of your tank. As far as I can tell he must have dug under it and the sand then collapsed behind him. I don’t even want to think about what would have happened if I hadn’t come home when I did but I wouldn’t want any of you out there to experience it so be careful with arrangements in your lizards home. :-) |
