Reptileruler of all ages! pink belly lizards are a subspecies of the fence lizard and like the fence lizards the males of each species will have bright blue or pink on belly and under chin females will have little to no color on belly and chins ps my lizards are doing great oh and make sure to keep their basking spot at around 95 they like some foliage and although many will argue I have raised my fence lizards on walnut shells and it is a really good substrate even though it supposedly will impale your lizard and kill it ya right and if you want a use sand just keep in mind it heats up pretty well I had one of my fence lizards bellies almost get burned through by sand. ya and people will probably reply to this post saying no don’t use it it will give your lizard impaction but none of my lizards have ever died from impaction also if your worried about impaction just set a big water dish in the tank and put their food in that that’s about it oh ya they like a little foliage. I have terrible news.it,s not impaction you should be afraid of//what you should really fear is drowning in the water bowl.I just killed alot of my lizards they all drowned in the water bowl less than four inches of water heated to(thats what killed them)the heat er had an electrical short of some kind every lizard that came over to drink and get a bath died!I lost everyone of my collards including a gravid female/and also believe it or not I lost my australian water dragon(he was in with the collards ,believe it or not they were axtually mingling well/collards taught him how to eat veraciously and he taught the collards how to swim)but now that is all behind us and in my pet cemetery now lies 6 lizards!I am very sad.and I,am extremely sorry accidents do happen and when they do it takes a whole bunch of lizards with it at one time.

Reptileruler of all ages! well putting a heat mat under the water is a really bad idea since sometimes the water can turn into a hot tub
and like you said kill them also I know they might have getting along but even so mixing collareds with any other species isn’t a good idea and since they have such different habitats it probably wasn’t such a good idea because sometimes other lizard species can carry diseases that the other lizard species might not be immune to. I am very sorry for your loss i’m just telling you so you won’t have to deal with it again and I also wanted to say there is an add on kingsnake.com for collared lizards you can get them for 6 bucks a piece if you buy 5. sorry for your loses.

I,m not sure when actual adolesence begins but I would say collards have a deffinate life span of ten yrs.every bit of eight for sure /and I would guess at about two yrs of age or two season they would be ready to breed !do you have a link to the collards for sale?????also I have learned a huge and valuible lesson/I normaly don’t house diffrent species together it was pretty much a fluke that I did /what a price to pay for learning /don’t take any chances it could bite you in the butt like it did me!I will re-up my collard collection hopefully soon!like really soon !I actually feel horible and wish I could take back some of the things I said and felt in the past ... laters CHIP!

Reptileruler of all ages! well wild caught males if thats what you have usually don’t settle down for a year like mine he’s still mean but he doesn’t see me as a predator or a threat anymore and he might not see you as a predator but probably a threat.

Reptileruler of all ages!
I had a collard who waggled his tail //he did it for two reasons he was corting with a femaLE AND HE WOULD GET EXCITED WHEN EATING AND HIS TAIL WOULD WIGGLE AND GIGLLE AND IT WAS AWSOME. so sometimes they just wiggle and wag just to do it //it is a natural thing however for a collard to waggle his tail when being held!after yourlizard gets used to you that should stop! hope this helps Chip!
