For anyone with a sick collared

I have been apart of this forum for about 2 years now. and within this time, i have seen alot of "my lizard is sick" kinda type posts. along with once for me. i only put a message about my lizard being sick because i couldnt get a vet date for about 3 weeks. so i wanted to kno wat i could do in the meanwhile.the main piont is that i already made the vet apptmnt.

This whole post is about people automatically coming to this forum when their collared is sick. there is no vets on this site. only people with experience, and their own knowledge from their experiences.
On this site, there is CARESHEETS. with all the heat temps (reg and UBV).food that is good for them.... these will help u when u first get a collared. people should always research about a pet they want to get, but i realize some people dont. so if u havnt, look at the caresheets.

If ur collzared does get sick, the things u should do is:

-check the caresheet, see what ur doing wrong. If anything
(some lizards get sick even if ur doing everything right)

- make a vet apptmnt. u should do this anyways, to make sure ur lizards doesnt have any kind of disease, or parasites.
(lizards can get parasites, from the pet store when bought. also in some sand their have been cases of parasites being in the sand when purchased.)

- dont be afraid to ask people in this forum.BUT, i have been here for 2 years. alot of people have come and gone. alot of people that are here now, have only been here for a couple months, and may not be that knowledgeable. NO DISRESPECT INTENDED.

- whether its from ur vet, caresheets or people from this sight, if u find ur doing sumething wrong, or ur collared just happened to get sick, for whtever the reason, do what it takes for ur lizard to get better.

My whole piont in this post is to not come to this forum first. and ask people who usually have no clue whats wrong with ur lizard, and ask them whats wrong. if u have kids, and they get sick, u take them to the docter. because they cant heal themselves.
Our pets rely on "us" to take care of them. "we" take that responsability, when we get pets. so PLEASE lets take care of them.

this post isnt a lecture. i like most if not all of u, luv my pets, and only want the best for them. so please lets do what it takes to care for our pets as best we can.
this post if from me and my guyana collared TAZ

for any of those with sick collareds me and TAZ hope ur lizards get better.

Hey EM-JAY, how’s Taz doing? You still use paper towel right (if so has Taz ever tried digging through it)?

Hey, this dosn’t have much to do with sick lizards but i was wondering what kind of Collard Lizard Taz is. I used to have a couple swifts and i noticed that Taz’s skin looks alot like the swifts. Taz is a sweet lizard i hope everything goes well with him.

hey newtman,Taz is doin great, very happy at the moment, i just fed him. yea he’s still on paper towel. wen i used sand he got sick, and wen u used wood chips, he could never find the crikets, he kept tryn to eat the bark wen runn’n around for them. by the way he acts, i kno he’s happier on the paper towel. no, he doesnt dig at the paper towel. sumtimes he dances along the glass, and digs on the side to get out of his tank, but thats it.

C-Web, taz is a guyana collared. their smaller than other collareds, hes only about 7 inches, and is full grown, he’s almost 2 years old now. and healthy as ever, i hav sum new piks, im gonna put on here soon. sum reel cute ones, of him sleepn, looks like hes got a pillow.lol,

anyways
lets try to keep this post goin. cuz practically every day i see new posts of people collareds being sick. so wen u see it at the bottom of the page, dont be shy to bump it up, wen u see sumone with a "my lizard is sick". thanx guys! and hope all ur collareds or other lizards are doin great!

For anyone with a sick collared

Been reading through this forum to get ideas on my lizards too, I have been to three vets in my area and they dont know anything about lizards so as a responsible owner and lover of theses reptiles i trawl through pages and pages of sites and forums like these and they do help and at the end of the day I am doing my very best if the help isnt out there from un qualified vetinarians then forums like this one is unfortunately the only choice.

I have to agree with Uk lizzie! I,m from wyoming and the vetranarians here really are not speciallized in reptiles or amphibians for that matter/and the calling for herps isn’t popular enough for a reptile clinic,so we find ourselves doing the work and the research by ourselves, anyway I believe theres enough info on the web and also you can now get specialized products from just about anywhere that counter what might be making your retile sick. so any way if you have a sick horse our vets are the best in the nation, my last imput for vets///one time I had lots of collards and they all got some parasites /took em all to vet he injected them with deparasite solution and within hours all died from overdose/nice huh,so I don’t trust any vet/if a lizards going to die well it happens in my care now /anyway hope this doesn’t offend you cause I,m not tryin to do that I,m just letting you know that we don’t always have the luxary of a good vet . any way have a good one buh buy for now Chip!
