I should have asked... does it matter if either one is a male or female? Or is it just as long as 1 is a male and 1 is a female. I have a couple of ball python and I know some have to be a male who carry the albino to breed with the female to get the patter or colors correct.

It doesnít matter wich one is male or female. Which morph of Ball are you talking about? As far as albinos go it doesnt matter which sex carries the gene. Iíve done it either way!!

For the corn to make a root beer I can use any sex? That would be great! For my balls.. I canít remember what morph it was for but the combo had to be het male for albino and something het for female. I would have to look for it again... All I know it was going to be $3,000 for 1 of the hets and out of my budget so I moved on.

if you are going to make rootbeers you may as well use an amel corn. That way all of your offspring will be rootbeers het creamsicle.

what would it be if i used a amenil albino corn? would that still make a root beer but also be het for albino? Or just a plain old one would be best?
Is there a good book that tells you all the comoboís?
I have "The corn Snake manual" by bill & Kathy Love....
But they donít really tell you like take x-male and y-female to make z?

It doesnít matter wich sex is het for what. The color/pattern genetics are not sex specific. If you bred a corn to an emoryi yo get rootbeers..period. Doesnt matter wich one was male or female. If you bred amel corn to norm emoryi to still get rootbeers that are het for amel (creamsicle), it doesnít matter wich one is male or female. You didnít see mention of this is Cathyís book because it doesnít exist.

Thank you Wisema2297. I hope this is the last question on this. If I took a corn thats albino to a emoryi. Would I get a rootbeer that is het for albino and creamsicle?

Also when breeding them is there anything to watch for? I know I have read on here that a corn will eat other snakes some times.

the babies will be rootbeers het for amel. This amel form of the rootbeer is called creamsicle. There are many diiferent types of amel in corn snakes. I think this is where the confussion starts. Amel is simply the absence of melanin. Melanin is what produces dark pigment ( black, brown etc). Another word for this is albino. It can be confusing I know. Butter, snow, opal, and blizzard are all forms of amel. They were just given "trade" names to distinguish the different forms of amel from the "traditional" amel. If you really think about it, amel bloodreds are called just that. They donít have a catchy "trade name". You would be just as correct in saying "amel caramel" instead of butter, amel anery instead of snow, amel charcoal instead of blizzard and amel lavender instead of opal. So now you can see that amel rootbeers can be called by the trade name "creamsicles".
