Does an 18" or a 24" flourescent tubelight in a fixture that is exposed to the snake get too hot?
I am planning on building a cage, so I want to make sure it won’t be too hot, but I also don,t want to have to make as much space in between the cages.

corns really do not need any lighting. If you are adding light for aesthetic quality is it inside or outside the cage? If inside then get some rubber coated wire mesh (1/4 inch holes) to cover the light fixture to prevent possibly shocking the snake. I don’t believe they put off much heat at all.

Supplemental lighting is not necessary for this species, but if used should run on a 12/12 cycle, meaning 12 hours on & 12 hours off. Continuous bright, overhead lighting is stressful to snakes, especially if a hiding spot is not made available within the enclosure.
Flourescent lighting is probably not a good idea... could hurt the eyes ...low watt bulbs are fine... we used to use 15 watt black light bulbs ...have any lights used off at night... if it’s a must to se your lil guy/gal then use a red or blue night time bulb :o)
