 Tank question

Can you put a stick from your front yard in the snake cage or should I just buy grapevine from the pet store? I may be getting a snake soon and I was just wondering.

I just don’t want to spend so much money because I have a limited budget on what I can use towards decoration in my tank.

You can use tree branches. Just make sure you take the leaves off and any other pieces that my be protruding and harm your snake.
Be sure to pour boiling water all over the branches, making sure to saturate all areas...this will kill the parasites.
You should also have hides on both sides of the tank (warm side and cool side).
You can use a paper towel roll or a toilet paper roll (depending on your snake’s size) and cut a hole in it big enough to fit the largest part of your snake.
Tupperware containers or take out containers work well...you do the same thing.
You can purchase a bag of moss for $7 USD and position it around the tank covering the homeade hides to give the tank a more natural look.
I purchased fake vines from the dollar store and they look awesome in our tank. I cover the fake stems with the moss....
The moss also helps to keep the humidity level up during the shed cycle. YOu mist it with warm water on the warm side of the tank and it increases the humidity. This will help your snake.
Markey ALWAYS sheds in his moss....and then hangs out on top of it afterwards to bask under his light.
Good luck and have fun!!!!!

 Tank question

I agree about the divider. I would not keep a baby corn in such a huge tank. As your snake grows, you can increase the amount of space that you allow him to roam in.
Yes, 80 gallons is plenty big for a full grown corn.
Congrats!!!!

 Tank question

If it was me I would make sure the tank was escape proof and set up right including temperature gradient and then put the snake in. I’m a believer of the bigger the better. Baby corns in the wild have alot more room than 80 gallons to move about. Yes that is quite big enough for a full grown. Whatever you do good luck.

I always use sticks from the yard or woods but before you put it in with your snake soak it in a 10% bleah to 90% water solution. This will kill any bateria or other germy types on the stick. Then throughly dry it in the oven with the overn set at the oven’s LOWEST temp setting. It will take several hours in the over to completely dry.
