I would rather feed too little than too often. You don`t want him to grow too quickly. |

Where did this info come from? Every 4-5 days for hatchlings (up to the time they first eat adult mice) feeding on appropriate sized prey is very acceptable. Hatchlings digest food at a much faster rate than adults and their metabolism is much higher as well. I usually do not like quoting care manuals but check out both Kathy Loves (everyone here loves quoting her) and Don Soderbergs book (it;s the newest manual). Now once they start on adult mice that is another thing. Mine are only fed once a week then and my big males only once every 2 weeks. There is also nothing wrong with feeding only 1 a week. They will still grow fine just at a slower pace. But feeding every 4-5 days (hatchlings) is also not considered overfeeding, or powerfeeding and does not have detrimental effects on the snake. |
