 Ain’t shedding right

I just had one shed today and it got stuck on her tail. I put her in one of the little containers, like they are shipped in, with warm water and the lid on. I left her in there for about 20 minutes. She was not happy about this but when I took her out I just rubbed the tail lightly and it came off. Maybe this will work for you.

Need 2!

There is a post...

"SETTING UP YOUR ENCLSURE"

Please read and make Sure you have Everything needed!

As for the Shedding... sounds like your humidity is Low.
What are your Temps/Humidity?
What are you Reading them with?
(dial, digital or stick gages?)

Several things you can do to Up the humidity...

Place a Damp towel (wet, not dripping) over the top of the enclosure
(if you have a Screen top)

Place a "Humid Hide" (besides the Two Required) some where in the enclosure
(Spaghnum moss, dampened, in a small bowl)

Move the water dish closer to the UTH
(further away if humidity gets too High)

For Now...

Try using the "Pillow Case" Method...

Quote:

Get an old pillowcase (low thread count)
Wet the pillow case with Warm water
Put the snake in the wet pillow case
Tie the end Loosely and leave it in there, for 30 minutes.
*You can kind of move the pillow case around in your lap or hands,
to make the snake move on its own and sort of scrub the shed off itself
(do Not peel any loose shed yourself)
The snake should begin to have shed in there

make sure your humidity is right, go buy a little guage at a petstore! Try lightly spraying the warm side of his cage with water every once and a while!

Dial and Stick gages are Crap!
They break down easily and are usually not accurate, and can not read the temps needed.
(inside the hide on warm side, Cool side Temps, and Humidity Levels)

Digital Thermometer/Hydrometers, found at Wal-mart($11.88),
or most hardware stores, are fairly accurate and measure all three readings needed.

Yes, mites Can cause a bad shed, however, Flea treatment is for Fleas, not Reptile mites.
If you have a Mite problem, then you need Provent A Mite.
