Perlite okay so i came home from work 4 days ago and my hypo het amel was in her moist hide (filled with sphagnum moss) and has not left it since. well she just shed 6 days ago so it cant be her trying to soak for a shed. well i had her in with my creamsicle for a week in december (had a cage bust and had to rearange til i could buy another one) so im thinking she might be ready to lay eggs any day now. and i was just wondering about perlite for the medium in the incubator, i know a lot of the books say its a good choice but im not sure i got the right kind. i bought it from walmart. its SCHULTZ brand and it says the only ingredient is volcanic lava thats expanded by heat. i just wanna know if this is the right kind or if there is some other kind out there that is good for egg incubation. the incubator is all set and ready except for the medium.

Perlite Get the box ready now so that it is already at the right temp, water/perlite mix etc. so that when the eggs are laid they can be transfered to the box as soon as they harden. They will be soft when first laid so it is important to let them harden first. Also do not rotate the eggs when moving them, make the sure the top of the egg stays the top of the egg. I also cover my eggs with damp sphagnum moss as well. Just make sure to wring ALL the water out of it.
