Why wont she let me???!!!! 
i dont get why my mom wont let me gte a corn snake!! i get paid 80$$ a month, i’ve been researching for a year now, i know how to take care if it, they don’t smell, and she even said she likes snakes!! i dont get why she wont let me! i have experience with handling snakes and caring for other animals so do you guys have any ideas that will convince her ( i know i am ) ready to get a corn nsake??? pleeeeeeaaaaase answers! (feel free to post ur pics if u want)

Well man that sucks my mom wouldn’t let me until I had practicly combed the house over with a fine tooth comb every day for a month and kept my grades up but finaly I she let me and now I have thirteen snakes!!! Prove to your mom your responsable and she may change her mind

Corn snakes are a joy to have I got one about a month ago. I don’t get an alowance but my grandma bought the snake for me and buys me the food. They are really easy to care for. You only have to feed them once or twice a week (depending on the feeding schedule you have). Where as with a cat or a dog you have to feed them everyday and they need your attention on a daily basis where snakes don’t need your attention. One neat thing that I have noticed is that he likes some music and with other music he will go and hide.

I wouldn’t reccemend this but when I asked to get a pet snake my mom said yes and my stepdad said no. I talked to my mom about it and she said that once you get it he will get over it. So I went out and got one against his wishes. I only got grounded from my computer for 2 days. And we have a snake in Biology and my teacher is going to let people take pets home over the summer because its too much work for one person (we have 6 glow in the dark fish, 1 hampster, 1 tortoise, 2 leopard geckos, 1 corn snake, 1 scorpion, 1 bearded dragon and we are waiting for some fish to arrive via FedEx or UPS) she is going to do a drawing at the end of the year with the peoples names that want that animal (you need a signed permisson form). The drawing will be slightly one sided because she is going to favor the students with better grades, trustability, and possibly experience with reptiles. So I am almost a shoe in for the snake. But I will have to deal with my stepdad again because he doesnt like reptiles, but my mom will talk with him. Sorry for the long post. Im kind of excited. Again I DON’T reccemend doing this as it can get you in a crap load of trouble. Peace.

Snakes can’t hear music, if anything they can only feel the vibrations and the vibrations of music would be pretty much the same unless its something like classical/rock. So far as I can tell thats when the snake is in different moods not the music, again sorry about being mean.

Introduce you mon to this site.
Go to my profile and click on my website so she can see my young children holding different types of snakes (corns, kings, ball pythons etc.). This may help sway her a little.
Show her a GOOD caresheet or better yet buy one with your own money from a pet store(Cathy Love’s book). Spending your money on it shows that you are serious.

i worked on it and i researched and took notes and all that not exactly a caresheet ( soryy for the wording) but more like an info sheet. and why r u getting mad at me?!!? im asking for people that have wanted to get one and what worked for their parents. and dont treat me like im stupid im also a person you have no respect at all for younger people. dont think i dont know what im doing becaise i have researched enough to know how to care for a corn nsake and we all have to start somewhere dont we?!?!?

I listen to rock and some of it my snake doesnt like, I know that they only hear through vibrations. My tank sits on my computer desk and I use my computer for my music so the speakers are right next to it. Not to argue or anything just stating how my setup is.
Link24 is right, you don’t have to be mean Scylla. I told my way of getting my snake, I only got away with it because I have almost striaght A’s and never ever get in trouble with my parents. Plus I will go along with what my mom says rather than my stepdad. I am 15. I did quite a bit of research before I got mine, luckily I didn’t have to convince my mom.

Animalluvver, I’m sorry to hear about your difficulties persuading your mom. In general, often parents are concerned that their kids will lose interest in a pet and won’t bother to feed or look after it any more, and that they themselves will be left doing the job. More particularly, a lot of people just don’t like reptiles. My mom, for instance, hates snakes and has never done more than stretch out a hand to touch one of mine with a fingertip! However as I’m 36 and married and don’t live with her, it hardly affects her - when she comes round, she just avoids them. She was even scared of the eggs mine laid, thinking the baby corns were going to jump out of the eggs and bite her! But as you say your mom likes snakes, she may just be worried you’ll lose interest. After all, they do live for twenty years if well cared for and healthy, by which time you’ll be 33. If she knows this, she may be concerned as to what will happen if you leave home, go to college, get a job etc.
I think all you can do is to sit down with her and explain in a calm, mature way that this is something you really want to do. Explain how much you have learnt about them and that you will not lose interest and above all, will make sure she is not left cleaning the cage and feeding them for years and years. She may also be worried about the costs, whether the snake will get sick and need expensive vet treatment and so on. If she still won’t let you, well, it’s her house so in a way you have to respect her decision. My mom would never have let me have a snake when I was at home, but when you leave home you will be able to do what you want, and although it may seem a long time away, out of a lifetime it isn’t.

Im 18 and live at college and my parents still said no to me. All i needed was 3 months when i live at home in the summer and then i would bring it back to college but my answer was "your not coming in this house with a snake" and thats the problem with being 18 is that your parents dont have to let you in the house lol. Besides that i have very loving parents and i just bought the snake at college and have convinced them to let me keep it so now they dont care. But i dont know what to tell you because i am pretty sure you need your parents to buy it for you because you need to be 18. Good Luck hope you finally convince them to let you have one.

haha im 18 as well, going to the local college for now so im still at home... went to a reptile show and shewouldnt let me get anyhthing, talked her into letting me get another scorpion, then i talked her into letting me get a scorpion or a snake............. so i came home with 2 scorpions and a snake..... she likes the baby corn snake.. not a big fan of the scorpions... the catch is i bought a pregnant scorpio lol

We have a scorpion in biology that is completely black. I dont know what kind it is.

I really have no advice but I remember when I was a teen I used to bug my mom for a dog and she always said no. Finally when I was 16 I brought home a 6 month old lab mix puppy that a couple couldn’t keep anymore. I brought the dog home as a present for my mom on mother’s day. lmao. She was not amused and demanded I give the dog back to the people, which I couldn’t. After a week she was insanely attached to her. 15 years later and she still has her. =)
