 My future breeding pair

Well, i just learned that my two corns are male and female. (i watched the Kathy Love video on popping) i’ve been researching breeding but can’t find much online so i’m gonna look for some books. if anyone knows any good ones please let me know. they aren’t very old yet, not even a year, maybe 4 or 5 months. they are both getting close to 20in. probably about 18 or 17. they have a ways to go before they are able to breed. if anyone knows the avg age and size that they need to breed as well that would be great. the male is a snow corn and the female is an amel (i think). I’ll post pics and if anyone can tell me what the female is that would be great. i’ve tried looking at different pics but can’t tell, she may be a creamsicle even. just thought i’d tell everyone, i was very excited when i learned i would be able to breed them. i’ve been wondering what morphs they would produce.

Here is my male snow corn, White Lightning.

And here is my female, Enzo. I’ll post a couple pics to try and get the best color shots so you can try and see what morph she is.

i think i may have found what she is. i was looking around online for what morph Enzo may be and according to this guys site, she would be a Lavamel, a combo of the Lava (hypo C gene) and an amel.

OK, please...do us all a favor and stop trying to give advice. If this is your OPINION, you are entitled. But save yourself a little embarrassment and do some research. You aren’t even close Ichiago.

In my opinion your female looks like a very nice amelanistic corn. I wouldn’t say lavamel, but I’m just going by what I see in the posted pictures.

Ichiago, Ichigo Iching Feet...your responses on here are dreadful no matter what I call you. I’ll throw up ten "typos" before I give out one sentence of bad advice. Something you obviously have no great concern for.
As for the coloration, it is often very difficult to determine in hatchlings or young snakes what they are going to turn out like. Amels vary in color, pattern and shade from snake to snake, often within the same clutch! You would need to know the parents, and their genetics to really know what your snake is carrying genetically, thus giving you a better chance at pre-determining the "look" of your juvenile snake as an adult.

defo not a lavemel, you only have a amel... lavamels run at quite a high price, and they are not common.

the look is the same as a normal amel.
although the gene makeup is different

thanks! its hard to find pics of hachtlings to compare the colors with, so i was just looking at everything. it makes since though, since i just got her at a pet store and she was only $30 that she’d just be an amel. so many of the patterns look alike to me, lol. over the next few years i’m gonna research breeding and their genetics to get a better idea of it all. since i don’t know the exact genetics of my pair, starting out will be a little hard but i’ll atleast have an idea since i know their basic color morphs. thanks again!

Definitely an amel corn. I don’t really follow the 333 rule although it doesn’t hurt to go by it. I just go by the 3 ft rule for my females. Three feet and good body weigth/muscle tone. Doesn’t really matter if they get there in 18 months or 3 years (I have some of both).

my snake rosie, who is in with a snake called henry, and yes i house them together and i have had many dicusions over that. Well, Rosie the female, is 2.5yrs, just over 400g and is just under 4.5’. She as recently laid 12 eggs as a first clutch.

however, with the male, well that is a different story, he is just under 5’ in length and weighs 700g and is 3yrs of age.

most dont follow it tbh

i think you should follow if your new to breeding

here in the uk i speak to a few big breeders, they seem to breed them around 200g, never any probs.

me and my bf picked up to more longnoses the other day, the guy had one that escaped, bout 2 foot tops, not thick at all, she just laid about 15 eegs, all perfect, smaller than normal, but none retained.

i think my bf will have a plasma pairing at the end of the year, wont exactly be 300... but yeah... dont slate me for it. but they are fine really, just some extra precations need to be done, and yo need money to pay out for vet bills just in case

allready had one female who retained a egg. nice vert bill there, and another on oxytocin

saying all this, i would not reccomend people just go and breed there snakes that arnt reqally ready
