 Advice and help ? needed

Hi i am wanting to get a corn snake but i want to learn as much information about them as i can. I am getting this baby one in a few weeks or when ever i learned enough about them from the reptile store around the corner. It is only a baby corn snake so i now that i will have to feed him/her around 2 pinkies once a week( am i ryt?) i read this on most care sheets i have been reading. I have a 2ft vivarium for now and i have a 50 watt red heat glo type of bulb and also a UTH.

Are snakes like geckos and need a warm and cool end? as i got 2 gecko’s which i have had now for a few months and i just wonderd wether most of its the same like do that need to be provided with a moist hide? and do i change there water every day? or dont they like fresh water?

As you can see i dont no how to care for them much i would also need to no the correct temps for the tank (warm end ? cool end ? if they need one that is )as i will be using a digital thermometer for correct readings. Also what sort of hides do they need? simalar to gecko’s small dark places ? and what sort of cage will i need to surround the bulb so he doesnt get burned ? please help me and give me some advice thanks alot,

D

Read this post - All of it!

SETTING UP YOUR ENCLOSURE...

Read through the Other posts for information...

Have your enclosure and All Needed Equipment Set Up at least 48 hrs Before
bringing home the new snake... so that you can get Temps and Humidity, and
everything else correct, without disturbing the new snake.

Once you have done all of this... leave the snake Alone for a minimum of One Week,
so it can acclimate (get used to) it’s new home.... No Feeding! No Handling!

The only thing you need to do within this week is
Spot Clean and Change Water Daily.

Do as Much research as you can - then do More.

One more thing...

when ever i learned enough about them from the reptile store around the corner

Do Not take Pet Store advice to heart...

MOST do Not know Anything about Snake Care...

I have seen too many posts that people take pet store advice, and end up with
a Non-feeder, sick or end up killing their snake because of bad pet store advice.

If you have a Question, ask Here!!!

That is a lot to cover in one post. My advice would be to order this book, Link. It is the best one I’ve seen so far and can not be found in stores. While your at it check out the whole site and see all the different colors and patterns that corn snakes come in.

Some corns will soak, mine never did, but the environmental humidity
(the humidity In the Enclosure), and fresh water Daily, Should provide
the humidity Needed for shedding.

You Need to have your enclosure set up Properly, and make sure to have
the Correct temps and humidity, measured by a Digital Therm/Hydrometer
(pictured and discussed in the setting up post - does not have to be That brand,
but some thing that does the Same readings).
Many people do use humid hides... I never have, and don’t have shedproblems
(does not mean you Need or Don’t need).
