 Shedding problem?

I’m just a little freaked out right now and I’m wondering whether I should do anything special. I was absolutely sure Hiko (the snake) was going into shed--opaque eyes, faded color--and his/her eyes cleared up two days ago so I decided to use the soaking method by putting him/her in luke-warm water for an hour (yes, still two days ago) and I did it again yesterday and again today. So far, NOTHING has happened and I’m getting worried. I do have a humid hide box with a wet paper towel over the UTH but it still hasn’t shed even though I keep getting the feeling that the color is a little brighter but not as bright as it could be (could be just because of soaking it makes the shedding skin more transparent.) I’m almost 100% sure that it hadn’t shed already because I haven’t found the shed skin and I’ve been combing the tank for a while now to see if I could have possible.

He/she soaks pretty well and is usually content to sit in the tub I provided for it, sometimes it’ll be fidgety but otherwise fine. It also ate a f/t pinky yesterday (first in a week since I fed it 4 days before the change in eye color and that lasted about two days) and I haven’t touched it or bothered it except to soak it.

Am I being unusually paranoid or could there really be a problem? Or could it already have shed and somehow hid its shed skin really well that I haven’t been able to find it?

On the other hand, the hunt for the snake skin turned up two snake poos between the newspapers I use underneath the aspen to make the monthly total cleaning easier so I guess that’s something to cheer about? *scratches head*

Just leave the snake alone no need for all this Drama stop bathing it and just let it be it will take as long as it takes .If your set up is correct that is,, which with all of your freaking out you have failed to inform us about ,Temps,cool/hot ,Humidity just info others would need to help out if you had a problem not just wet kitchen role over the UTH tells us nothing .... I.M.O..... .
Or maybe it has eaten it or has hidden it from you so you will be kind enough to bath her every 2 days
DONT BE SILLY .
It can take anywhere from 2 days to a week for it to shed assuming that your set up is right .

Every snake is diferent...
My Corn took 2 days aftereyes clouded over...
My BPs will go blue and some times it take 3-5 days after.. some tmes longer.

If you have the proper humidity level, and they have fresh waer daily,
keeping them properly hydrated, they will have no problems shedding themslves :o)

That makes me feel a lot better. I also have a garter snake and that guy sheds very on time-within 24 hours after the eyes clear up so that’s why I got worried. Most of the sites say that they should shed within 2 days of the eyes clearing up so I guess I just got a little paranoid.

The humidity level’s about 40% I’ve always kept it lower because I don’t want germs to grow, but given that it has a humid hide and a large water bowl, it should probably be using it.

Thanks so much, this really helped!

Yeah, I was just being paranoid. I just found it’s shed when I went to check up on it. It was so eager to come out too, after it shed and I opened the tank, it immediately climbed up the side and curled around my fingers and up my shoulder. I usually take it out at least for an hour a day but ever since it went into shed I haven’t unless it was to soak it so I guess it missed it’s freedom.

If you spot clean daily (or when Needed), and do a complete clean monthly..
there should be no worries for this...

BPs have higher humidity requirements (50%-60%), and I have never had any
problems with "germs to growing".

I’ll definitely keep that in mind--I’m just a touch neurotic when it comes to worrying about all the possible things that could go wrong.

Thanks!
