 Is This Humidity Alright?

I use glass tanks with screen lids for all my snakes. I recently moved them both into a condo type tank I tailored with plexiglass. The Humidity is sitting, for both sides, at 38%. This is the highest humidity I’ve ever ben able to reach in my room and I’ve tried everything. I know corns need something like 40-50% humidty, but thus far none of my corns has had trouble shedding and I mist daily (inside the warm hide and over the heat pad to help increase humidty.) so should I be concerned about the humidty? Ay ideas on how to raise it to the appropriate levels?

yasha,
as with everything else... you’ll find different opinions on this subject... it has been my experience.. that humidity isn’t that big of a concern with corns as it is with other snakes.. I would bump it up during shed... but you probably won’t even have a problem then. Do you still have screens? I have my corns in a tanks with screen lids and have no shed problems whatsoever... I just move my water dish over the UTH when I need higher humidity.. I have to fill the dish up more often... but it helps me reach my goal.

I always had a hard time with humidity with my corn, but then she was in a 55 gal
(when I knew nothing), and usually what I did was mist her while handling
when she showed signs of shedding... never had anything but one peice sheds :o)

38% is not far from the recommended minimum level...
But with my BPs, they need to have the higher humidity,
so I work harder at keeping the humidity up where it should be,
or right in the middle.

Give the snake a mist once in a while... it’ll be fine :o)

Thanks guys! I figured only 2% off the minimum wasn’t doing to badly, and I also know corns are hardy little buggers who just keep on trucking through our stupidity...
And yes I still have screen covers on them. I have two more tanks I am not using, a 20 gallon cube one (zoo med) and a 10 gallon kritter keeper with the slide locking screen lid, but unless I get a male leo or something that doesn’t need too much space (so no snakes) I think I will be moving exclusively to tubs.

I don’t like that you can’t see into most of them, but honestly I’ve come to realise that having a few display animals is still pretty good, and that if I want to expand my collection, I will quickly run out of dresser, shelf and table space if I want them all to be display animals. And there are precious few snakes that I want out there that don’t require intense humidity, and so for the sake of the animal, tubs are a much better resource...
