You wont shorten her life. Colubrids are known for growing fast and need to eat more often because of it. The way you are going to shorten her life is if you powerfeed on a regular basis and feeding her twice a week is no where near powerfeeding. Have you ever wondered why the largest snakes of any species are always found in the wild? You would think that if hobbyists maintained an optimum feeding schedule that there would be more larger specimens in captivity. Hobbyists are so scared of overfeeding that they more often UNDERFEED their animals. My corn babies are fed every 4 days until they can take fuzzies, then they are fed every 5 days until they can take small adults. Adult females are fed once a week with the exception of breeding season. Adult males once every 10 14 days. While they are growing feed them as much as they want. It’s when you force them to eat more that the damage could be done. "Feeding them as much as they want" as become confussed with "force feeding" for some reason. Of course this is done with in reason. |

Babies: Pinky every 5 days (almost)Yearlings: Fuzzy every 5 days Adults: 2 Weaning rats(or adult mice...same size) every 12-14 days Thanks for the comments on my lil RO. I’m still trying to name him. I’m trying to go with rock and gem names. I have Corns named Pearl, Shell, Coal, and Ruby(changing it) so far. :) |

But that Snake(RO adult) was bred by PoppyCorns(Marsha) to make my lil guy. I think it’s her snake but could have been on breeding loan...not to sure. But she said it was ok to post his picture. |
