 MITES!! MY SNAKE HAS MITES!!

The 78 degrees is fine for a night time temp. The way I get rid of mites is first take the snake and put him in a container of warm water, about 85 degrees and leave him in it for 30 minutes or so. While doing this I take everything out of his cage and wash everything in a one cup bleach to one gallon water solution. Then I rinse everything very very well with warm water. This will probably kill all living mites but you will have to everything again in one week and two weeks to kill the mites that are hatching. There are products on the market that kill mites but I have never used them myself. I believe it was Pelota, in another post on yesterday, who recommended an off the shelf product so if you can find that post you can see what others have to say.

I have had success with a product called "DeFlea Reptile Relief" It is a natural product that doesn’t use any of the harsh chemicals most other products use. It can be used on the cage, everything in the cage and the snake itself. I have used it on several snakes that have came in with mites, and it has worked everytime. I usually use it one more time after I have seen no mites, just to be sure I got them all. It is avaialbe at most pet supply stores and can be ordered on line as well.
