 Little brown bugs

I hadn’t seen my new baby corn for like three days and when I looked at him he had these little brown bugs all over him I removed all of them and cleaned his cage and put in all new cage furniture are these little brown bugs going to have a lasting effect? has anyone else witnessed these? By the way he is doing great besides that ive only had him 2 weeks fed him twice and he shed twice.

sounds like mites! mine got mites from a type of fluker bedding once. it is not too serious i cured mine by giving them a bath with a couple drops of liquid soap to cut the water tension. this will drown all the mites! my female actually had one imbedded in her eye so i had to put a little vaseline on it to smother it and then it fell off! DO NOT PUT VASELINE ON THEIR SCALES! just bath them for about 15 to 20 min in warm water with a drop of liquid soap and make sure you bleach the crap out of their cage! freeze the substrate for at least 24 hrs if you are using bedding from the same bag before putting it in their cleaned cage! hope this helped! i would recommend getting the corn snake manual by kathy love! it explains it all!

Mites are not brown. Are you using aspen? Sometimes these bugs are in the aspen you buy. If so, they are harmless.

A good idea when you change bedding material is to cook it in the oven. this kills any bugs and helps sterlize the bedding. have the oven at 200 and bake for 30 mins. watch the edges to stop burning. allow to cool over night.

its an extream method but it works.

Order a can of Provent-A-Mite. It works very well if you follow the directions exactly. Just google provent a mite. It will kill any bugs that you may have, bad or otherwise.

Can you take a picture of the bugs. Mites are black and swell with blood when they are been feeding for a while.
