Golddust hatchling and three months on

I thought I’d post a picture of our only corn at the moment, a female 08 golddust (ultramel and caramel). They’re not brilliant pictures - I’d just fed her and she was still at the stage of being very active, thinking she might get another pinky!

Here she is when we bought her on June 21. She was tiny then. Her yellow has started to develop now, especially around her head and neck, but she’ll be very yellow as an adult. I’ll try to get some good close ups of her soon, of her eyes especially, which are a pretty color.

Is that the Barking one? No I don’t think so - we did go last year and there were some nice hatchlings but didn’t buy any. Too much of a temptation to increase the reptile family. Are you going, and if so what are you looking for? What about a nice tarantula to add to your collection??

Thanks Fred! How’s your collection coming along?

Sam, is this the longnose? link The link is for the Arizona-Sonora desert museum in Tucson, AZ - I’ve been there - it’s a great place. Bet Fred has too, have you Fred?

Sorry, Jess, but I haven’t been to that museum. HOWEVER, when I go to the Reptile show on the 27th, I just MIGHT get there sometime that weekend.

As for SAM’s beautiful long nose... not the same kind of longnose you can catch (I did catch one) around here. Wouldn’t eat for me though... (stinking lizard eater). LOL.

Ah, an Argentine longnose! That’s a pretty snake. Is it good tempered? Fred, you would like the museum, but to be honest you’ve probably seen most of the animals in it - it’s good for foreigners like me who are fascinated with all the different animals in Arizona. They’ve got all the native animals - different lizards including gila monsters, snakes including coral snakes and rattlesnakes, tarantulas, hummingbirds, butterflies, tarantula hawks, javelinas, cacti, and so on and so on. Here’s a picture of the desert around there. Makes me want to go again.

LOL. You yearn for the warmth of our "too hot" desert and we yearn for the cool mist and a view from Stonehenge. LOL! I’ve never been to your "Isle Country" and probably never will. But I can dream!

Yes, the grass is always greener on the other side! In fact in reality it is greener here, LOL, and there’s a reason for that! But actually you did suddenly make me feel more appreciative. I love Arizona but you can’t get away from your roots. I’ll always be British and don’t think I could live permanently anywhere else without being homesick. Those cool misty mornings can be very pretty. A mixture of both places is ideal really. I haven’t been to Stonehenge for a while - I went in 1987 when I was 15 and then you could walk up to the stones - now they’ve roped them off, but we did drive past it not that long ago and it is still beautiful. And I love Scotland. We’re going there for a week next spring.

Thanks Mr. Green! Hope you get your corn soon. I saw your other post and I think you couldn’t go wrong with cornutopia. Kathy Love is the corn queen.
