 New little one

I just felt like posting some pics of my new amel. I got her at Basildon Reptile Show (I took no money and still came back with a snake!) as the temptation was too much, she was just too pretty and lovely plus there was an empty tank at home waiting to be filled! I don’t think she is het for anything special but she is special to me :) These pics are on the Basildon thread but I wanted her to have her own little thread :)

We are calling her Phoenix :)

And some of the boys just because I don’t want to leave them out ;)

Lol wowifying, haven’t heard that one before, I like it! Thanks alot, she is very pretty the pictures just don’t do her justice. She is currently known as ’Baby’ or ’Little Phee’ until she grows in to her name. She is a little fire cracker though :D

Thanks girls :)

Her colours are what caught my eye, she is very red and at the time I looked in her little travel tub only her head was poking out of the substrate. Her head pattern looks sort of like a little halloween ghost too, which I thought was cute.

Lisa, snake love is more important to snake names I know you love all your snakes. Those hurricanes are beautiful! A friend of mine has a normal she couldn’t think of a name for so she calls him ’norm’ haha.

Jessica, thank you! The boys just keep getting bigger and bigger :D My pride and joy, the lot of them!

They’re all different too - nice contrasts. Is the first male a ghost or an anery? He looks to be in shed from the picture. Your snow is a very pretty pink colour - some snows are too nondescript, I think, but that one is nice. How old are the boys?

He was sold to me as a ghost and he is very pale (you’re right he was in shed in the pic) but it may well be he is just a pale normal anery. I’m hoping to breed him in the future to see what I can get out of him as he was sold with unknown hets. He might be het for nothing at all but that is the fun in finding out :)

The snow was sold as a male but we are beginning to think he may be a she :s I’ve only just learned how to do the popping and don’t have probes so I have no way of telling now as he is a bit big to pop. He is very pink though, I thought he might lose his pink hue because as a hatchling he looked very white bit it just grew with him luckily!

Ali (anery/ ghost) was an August 06 and Casper (snow) was an early 07. New baby was early to mid August I think. Got some up to date pics of them both here (the others were a bit old) and some old ones for size comparison.

Sorry for the huge post and low quality phone pictures, any excuse to show them off =D

They’re nice pictures. Casper is getting some nice yellow on him now. I like the picture of Ali with the teddy bear - cute! Since amel is so common, you’ve got a good chance of Ali being het amel, and yes, it’s fun to find out what they’re het for. The first time I bred snakes was in 2005 and we bred an anery and a stripe, and the anery turned out to be het stripe so we got some striped babies! Then in 2006 we bred the anery with an anery stripe and both turned out to be het amel so we got snows and a snow stripe, plus aneries and anery stripes, which was amazing!

Wow Jessica, that was so lucky to have such surprising hidden hets. I don’t know any of the hets of these, they are just like little lucky bags. I can’t see myself breeding extensively as I won’t have the time or space when I move back home but I would love to test them all out and maybe keep a few of the babies they produce in years to come.

Ziraous, I can’t wait to see what she looks like as she grows but I also love them when they are that little. The little sparks of development and character are so exciting while they are little.
