 Pictures of the Noodles

Sadly, one of them has a serious birth defect. The close up of the one Im holding is the one I will probably keep.

ZOOM! In action.

And a shot of the birth defect in the last egg born. Its rather graphic. The top half of the snake moves just fine on its own, and its bright and alert. I really doubt it will make it though, as I dont think it will be able to digest its food. Poor thing, its like someone unzipped part of its belly.

I ended up euthanizing the one with the birth defect. It was pretty evident it was suffering. After talking with my friend who spoke with the guy who owns the parents, he recommended euthanizing it too. Was a sad day, but, there’s 4 more little noodles to watch. They’re looking like they are going into shed already- skin dulling up. Hiding under the paper towels. Going to give em some damp moss to keep em moist and give em a better hidey spot. Friend is bringing me deli cups as suggested for feeding, hopefully tomorrow. ( no worries, not putting moss in the deli cups!)

They have all just had their first sheds yesterday. I tried feeding a frozen/Thawed day old pinky to no avail. Today I went to my local shop and the snake expert lady was there. She gave me some Leopard Gecko Urea and suggested I try again today- keeping them in the dark in the deli cups again. ( They were out of live day olds and wont be getting more in until next tuesday. Arg!)

So now we wait, and hope that lizard pee does the trick. They have GREAT contrast already. I hope they all eat, and grow- because they will be gorgeous snakes!

The patterns are indeed unusual to me ....very different ...I like it!!

Eating may take a bit of patience from what I hear.... it can really mess with our heads. I ’ll be keeping an ear open for your gleeful shouts.

Aw, I’m sorry about the one with the birth defect. I’ve never seen anything like that... Poor snake.

The other ones look great, though! That is a very interesting color. What morph are they?

I think they will be hypo.

These are the parents. They are the classroom cornsnakes I had for the summer. Pictures taken one week before the larger female laid the eggs. I had no idea at the time she was about to clutch.

Looking at this photo now, you can see her spine sticking out a little bit, one of the signs they are gravid. Also, it looks like she is the one that passed on that circle pattern on the backs of some of the babies.

No luck yet on any of them eating. None of them have. Will have to get more pinkies and try again on Tuesday.

Before they would eat their first pinky. It’s natural to be in a hurry and get impatient, but my guess is they won’t be rushed.

Yes, they’re hypos, and well, I’ll just make an educated guess that your corns and Poppa Corn are related. You can see the same circular pattern on him in this shot . . .

No luck yet on the rest. Still trying. I think Live may be the way to go- but its hit and miss on getting live one day old pinky mice. Will leave them be completely today, and try again tomorrow.
