Debating getting rid of my corns

They’re neat and pretty, but I just don’t know that I really have the time for them. With my daughter starting school and work and all, it’s just hectic. I used to feed them once a week, now we’re at about 2 weeks almost regularly and I hate myself for it. Any ideas? Anyone in Florida who’d like 3 corns? An albino female, snow male, and bloodred male. Not positive I’m getting rid of them, but kind of leaning in that direction. Bro tells me just to let them go in the backyard (they’re a native species) but I’d feel bad if the resident hawk decided to lunch on them. Any ideas? I know corns aren’t attention seeking like my dogs or bird, but I still feel bad that I almost never handle them.

I am in central florida near gainesville. I am sorry that you are having to even think about getting rid of them. If it comes down to it, I have the time for them. I handle my current corns daily!

Let me or us know!

I’m going to talk to my husband about it tonight and I’ll let you know. They’re all almost 2 years old and I’d give you the equipment I have for them. The albino is a little more aggressive then the boys (whoever said corns don’t bite lied, LOL) but they’re all fine with being handled once they’re picked up. The snow is very skittish and likes to hide the most, the bloodred is extremely curious and always watching the goings on in the kitchen. Either that or trying to threaten me for not feeding him yet while my family sits down to eat dinner.... I’ll talk to my husband tonight and let you know. Where near Gainesville are you? I’m a Gator grad so I know some of the area.

I am on the SW side of town near 75 off of Williston. Sure, I don’t mind if they are biters. Mine range in age from about 6 months to 7 years and one of them took forever to be able to handle without biting! So I am used to that aspect!
Which part of Fl are you from?

Definitely don’t do that. First off, regardless of the fact that corn snakes are native species, it’s irresponsible. Second, the amel and snow would be dead in minutes since they’d stand out so well. I’m sure there are plenty of people who can take them off your hands and give them good homes.

Don’t worry, I’d never release them in the backyard. I’m too attached to them to do that. I’m down near Tampa, but drive by Gainesville fairly regularly on my way to North Carolina.

I am here most of the time. I go home every once in a while. If it comes down to you having to get rid of them just let me know. I could also meet you half way if you wanted.

I would love to take them off your hands, but I’m going to be leaving the country soon, so I’ve had to get my own snakes set up with relatives for the next few years... Definitely don’t release them. Their bright colors combined with their domestic breeding would be the end of them before the year was out... (I know you said you won’t, I’m just saying)

I’m sure you can find someone to give them homes. Good luck!

Thank you, Helen, I’ll let you know as soon as my husband and I make a decision. He’s thinking he might help more with them (gee, ya think? heehee) so I’m not taking care of all of our critters, which in all fairness we have because I love critters.
