When to move up to mice

I can’t tell if my corns are ready for mice yet or not. Fuzzies seem a little too small for them, but when I look at the mice in the store, they seem too big. Maybe I’m imagining the snakes smaller than they are? They’re almost 2 years old at least and I guess about 2 feet long, or close to that. Any ideas?

one way to tell is that if you feed and you really don’t see the bulge it is time to bump it up. you can ask for hoppers which are bigger, but I think that at that size they should be able to take a mouse.

Tell you the truth, mine eat mostly rats. This is because I was breeding them for my larger snakes and have a freezer full of them. Mine mostly eat the fuzzy/hopper size rats (where the eyes are just starting to open) for the largest ones anyway, and those are about a good size mouse.

yes like ox said when the buldge is gone from the thickest part of you snake its time to move them up to the next size mouse or rat or you can offer 2 fuzzies but it will get costly if you always offer 2

The next size up is Hoppers. Some stores grade thier mice by size as well, so if a hopper does not leave a small bulge, then next feeding you can try a small mouse. The store near me has Small, Large and Extra large mice, as well as XS, S, M, L, XL and Jumbo frozen rats.

I will cry if they ever go out of buisness.

Petco and other stores dont have the awesome variety this mom and pop shop have! Nor...the educated staff. Im really blessed that Animal Connection has such a wonderful and expert staff on hand.

They let customers who need specific sizes know the day their shipment comes in. Now they expect me nearly every Tuesday to come pick up day old or younger pinkies. (One of the hatchlings will only eat a live washed pinky- and is still being a difficult feeder. It didnt eat last week when everyone ate frozen/thawed. It still had its pinky this morning- alive and kicking, so I washed it again and hope when I get home it has eaten. The pinky was still alive. The rest scarfed theirs down within an hour or two.)
