Flipping upside down/slithering on its side or back is a sign of a genetic disorder called stargazing. Give this website a look and compare it to what your snake is doing. They’ve got a couple of video clips.

Stargazing

The not eating isn’t anything to be worried about yet; babies should eat every 5-7 days but they can go weeks without.

Have you been handling him all these 9 days? If so, he will be really stressed out. You need to leave him alone for a full week and then try to feed him a small meal. (Then don’t handle him for 48 hours)

Also, do you have any hides for him? If he’s living in a big empty tank, he will feel exposed and that will stress him out too. He needs at least 2 hides, one for each side of the tank, but more is better.

One more thing; bumping up the temperature on the warm side may help. Babies like a warm side between 85-90F so if you’ve got your UTH on a dimmer, turn it up a bit. Also, the temps need to be measured with the thermometors laying directly on the bedding; sticking them to the glass won’t get you an accurate reading.)

Good luck with your little guy!

well cornsnake imo i think we have gave a few opinions about what is happening to your snake and you shot them down faster then a cricket in a gecko tank and i think many people here would say the same thing to take it to a vet and get him chekd out it could be fixable but the more you wait on here looking for an answer you could have had him to the vet and been home by now with the proper diagnosis and thats my opinion a sick animal should be treated like a person say if you had this happen to you youd want to go to the hospital wouldnt you?

and didnt you post that you smoke both cigs and pot in the same room os your snake? that could have had an ill effect on this lil guy and if its the albino that you have pics posted of it could just be cuz of the hic cup in the genetics i bought one at a reptile expo was perfectly fine 3 days later at home it passed away no reason he flipped around like you described and poof it was gone so like i said befor take him to a vet

Three days isn’t long enough, though. It takes time for a snake to adapt to its new environment, especially if it’s young. Starting today, leave him alone for a whole week and then offer him a small meal. Some snakes just take longer to acclimate than others. When handling, only keep him out for about 15 minutes, and only once or twice a day. You can gradually work your way up to handling more often, but it’s best to take it slow in the beginning.

If he keeps on turning upside down you could take him to a vet, but really, those sort of disorders are neurological and are either inherited or caused by high temperatures either during incubation or after, and there’s nothing a vet can do for that. Plus, the added stress of being taken to the vet would make him less likely to eat for you. I’d focus on getting him to eat regularly before you do anything else.

I suppose it may be possible that he has mites and is scratching them, so you could give him a look over and see if you can see any tiny bugs under his scales (you might see them as lumpy or raised scales) or in his bedding. If that’s the case, you can buy some Mite-off or other brand of mite killer from your pet store and take care of that.

Sorry you lost the little guy. Sometimes that happens to them. I don’t know why, but working in a breeding facility I have seen it happen on several ocations, even the ones that were eating regularly and growing nicely. Then one day, dead.

It could be genetics, if you think about it a lot of the reptiles on the market today are inbread, that is how all of the bright colors are created. Because of this, the genetics do get a little screwed up and you never really know what will happen.

I have personally lost several baby corns suddenly.
