Help!!! Hasn’t ate for almost 2 months!!! I really don’t know what to do. It’s been almost two months since my snake has ate yet he still looks healthy. He’s thick and has some weight to him. I was feeding him live rats but I had to stop because the rat kinda chewed up his tail. He’s still recovering from that. I went to dead rats and he just wouldn’t eat them at all. So now I’ve downsized to live rat pups. When I first put them in the cage, he strikes at it and acts like he wants to eat it but in the end he’s not eating those either. In the middle of these two months he has shed so I know that was part of the problem and now I’m just scared. The last time he pooped was about 3 weeks ago which is strange since he hasn’t ate in a while and it was a little green. Should I be worried? He’s about 6 years old and a little over 4 ft long. I change his water everyday and I have a heat lamp on top of the cage. Sorry for such a long post I just wanted to give as much information as possible.
Any type of feedback would be very helpful. Thanks

Help!!! Hasn’t ate for almost 2 months!!! thats the great things about snakes they can go awhile with out eating! whats his temps at the issue is that the rat chewd on his tail so hes probly still in fear of that but if you keep offering them eventuallt he will take them or you can place him a container with a lid with a f/t rat leave him in there over night he will probly eat it or you can just wait it out

Help!!! Hasn’t ate for almost 2 months!!! I had a boa that did that which I couldnt get to eat after.
I agree with trying the F/T in a container with a lid or even a paper bag folded over and set back in the enclosure to give it some privacy. Wish I had known that trick back in the day. Mighta saved my snake.
Good luck!

Hasn’t ate for almost 2 months!!! just thought of another thing that might work is to place a f/t on the snakes back and move it so the snake thinks its a live prey the snake will eventually get annoyd and take it ive done this with some of my fussy snakes aswell and it has workd great just another thought

Help!!! Hasn’t ate for almost 2 months!!! My male corn stopped eatting for almost 3 months. He was already on f/t, just wasn’t interested, so every 2wks, we’d try a lrg mouse to see if he’s eat, eventually he did. Another trick with f/t is scenting it with a live. Rub the f/t agaist a live and do the other suggestions of a paper bag, etc...that may work. Good Luck and don’t worry too much. If there’s little to no weight lose, you’re prob ok.

Help!!! Hasn’t ate for almost 2 months!!! It can be difficult to switch them over to F/T, but definitely worth it as you’ve found out the hard way.
I think people have already mentioned above, but you can try scenting with tuna, chicken broth, lizard pee, (or just rub a lizard on your rat, although if you don’t have a friend with a lizard that might be awkward at the pet store...) braining the rat, or washing it with dish soap. And then putting him in a separate, small-ish container with the rat and leaving him overnight.
