Baby corns feeding problem
Bought some corns that were hatched in the beginning of august. The guy said he fed them mondays and thursdays. we fed them once (monday) and they both ate but they both threw up their pinkies. we thought maybe it was too big for them so the second time (thursday) we fed them we fed them pinkies that were cut in half long-ways and they both ate. One seemed to digest it fine but the other one looks like he still has a lump. we have a heating pad thats on under a log and a bamboo chute thats not on the heating pad and we’ve seen them drink water so they know where it is. We live in houston and its be going from freezing to 80 degrees every other day. we turned off their heating pad today because it was warm along with they’re basking light because without the light it was 83 degrees.
are we doing something wrong?

Baby corns feeding problem Once the snake has thrown up the pinkie, you have to wait 7 -10 days before feeding it again. It will not starve the snake. It is to much stress on the digestive system. When you keep trying to feed them, they won’t be interested in it. Just wait a week or so and then try again. If you can try to get even smaller pinkies. Once they can keep those down, give them two each. Two small meals I believe is better then one huge one.

Baby corns feeding problem Feeding every three days does not give them enough time to digest their food. Every 5 days is the most one should feed neonates. Their stomachs cannot rebuild the acids in the stomach fast enough to fully digest it otherwise. Then they start regurgitating. This is not healthy, as you have sadly found out.
what you need are newborn 1 day old pinkies.
Also, you shouldnt handle them for at least 2 days after eating, and you should not feed them for a week after they come to a new home, due to the stress of having a whole new set of smells and environment. For a snake, this takes some time to adjust. They will be stressed out no matter how perfect the conditions are.
Get the tank on a thermostat. It will then automatically shut off when its too hot, and turn back on when its too cold.

Baby corns feeding problem I am a new snake owner, But it seems that you maybe did not do enough research before buying your babies. I red everything I could get my hands on before I got one. The first thing I decided on after my reading was even tho it cost a little more I would NOT buy from a pet store , but straight from the breeder. and like someone else said once you get them home you should leave them alone till they are comfortable. I don’t pretend to Have all the answers, but I was sure i had the resources to get the answers, and most of the people here are very helpful, Like they say a bought lesson is the best kind. I hate that you had to lose one of your babies to learn these. good luck with the remaining one.
