What Old Rex said. If you feed them mice that have been well fed, they should get all the nutrition they need.

Well I feed her 1-2 hoppers every 5 days. The hoppers nurse my
mother mice, and the mother mice eat a mix of: Sunflower seeds,
corn, dog kibble, millet, rye, oats, stale bread, veggies or chicken
here and there, other grain products, nature patch organic cereal
and other dye-less cereals, and a bit of this and that.

Lani-MYG,

all snakes get their protein and vitamins from the rodents they eat. It is completely unnecessary to add or provide supplements to a snakes diet. Only under a vets recommendation for a snake that is ill would you need to add anything else.

And Lani, it sounds like your mice get a really great diet. I have to give you Kudos for asking a lot of questions. CLEARLY you care for your pets. I think I said it in another post, but beware of overfeeding your snake. One prey item once a week should be plenty- unless the backbone is showing. Overfeeding or "Powerfeeding" ( the practice of intentionally feeding two or more prey items in a feeding on a regular basis) is extremely detrimental to your snakes health. They get heart and organ problems, just like us humans. It seriously shortens their life span from 20-25 years normally down to 5-8 years if left unchecked.
You can spoil your pet instead ( snakes would rather be left alone, but will get used to us fussing) by providing fresh water, spot cleaning the tank of any urates or feces or sheds right away, making sure the temps are right. Really- snakes are simple yet beautiful critters. Good luck!

Ok no supp.

It’s so hard not to overfeed! I give her one and then she goes
around the feeding bin licking up blood and mouse pee, and when
I give her another she eats it up.

One thing I noticed is it takes her 3 mins+ to swallow each hopper...
Yet, she still wants more...

Although the snake may be smelling with it’s tongue the urine and blood...it is not licking it up. If the snake can eat 2 hoppers easily maybe you should start feeding it 1 small sub adult...often called a speedster.

Have you posted pics of the corn snake ? How big is it ?

The hoppers she eats she can barely get down and like
I said it takes her 3 mins + to eat one. She would not be
able to eat a speedster/small adult mouse.

Hmmm ,

OK ... mine take a few minutes to eat a hopper / speedster as well...

the frozen thawed ones I use look like this..

Fed them last night ....they powered down a speedster with ease ..taking no more than 5 minutes.

Anoxes is a wee bit shorter than those snakes and a lot thicker.
Plus, Ann has never regurgitated anything! So
I really think it’s fine to keep her on 2 hoppers every 5 days.
She’s thriving on it!

Oh, Cp the ones you call ’sub adult speedster’
are the size I’m feeding Ann... Btw anyone know
why the mice eyes do that weird thing in the freezer.

Hey I’m excited now! Why? Anoxes ate 1 "speedster"
today with no difficulty and it took (approx) 35 seconds!

One more thing, after she ate when I lifted her to put her
back in her cage, her mouth started bubbling (I told myself
’rabies’, lol) and a long string of liquid like mucusish stuff
drooped out of her mouth... Sorry for the detail,

I am out of state working ...get a grip and stop stamping your feet. I am lucky to even get a wireless signal tonight.

I have no clue what your snakes are doing ...when it occurred / if it just had a huge drink of water ...if your temps are correct...what enclosure / environment you provide / substrate. Did you medicate the mice with Ivomec??? You are all over the map and I can not keep track of you or your critters...

why don’t you post pictures?? Please give as many details as you can including how you measure the temps...I saw your web site and the advice you offer ...but I have never seen pictures of your set up.
I won’t be back until Saturday....

You better start learning and practicing some manners young lady....

Sorry, Cphill... :( I forgot to add lol or a smile I guess.

You’re a big help and I shouldn’t take advantage of you...
One thing after another. She’s on Aspen snake bedding,
she has 2 hides on the cool side, one taped to the top of her
cage (humid hide, stays in there ALL the time), and one
hide on the hot side. I measure temps with a sticky thermometer
and a digital once and a while. Cool side 75F middle 81, hot side
86-100 (100 being rare). I do leave her food VERY wet when
I fed it to her... I have not given any on my mice ANY med’s ever.

If the snake gets a very wet rodent and it has substrate stuck to it ...maybe she was just eliminating the yickma...?

Has she done it again / anymore?

This was the first time I’ve seen her do it. She eats in a box with nothing in it, but I keep the mice wet because I’ve never seen her drink from her water bowl. Just slurping water off herself when I spray the humid hide with her in it. Thank you for responding, sorry about my rudeness :)

Well , I must say you sure are different...wet mice...live or frozen thawed?

Just because you don’t see them drink doesn’t mean they don’t ...you might cause the snake some unnecessary harm if you keep doing that??

I notice that after a meal within minutes my snakes will usually drink...sometimes I go so far as to gently put their head in the water so they know it’s there...often times a fresh bowl of water will get them to drink also.Always have fresh water ..change it 2x a week.

You are forgiven ...peace

The live mice I do not dampen, I think that would be to cruel to the mice... The thawed ones are the ones I wet.
